The Actim prom test for the identification of amniotic fluid in vaginal secretions and a control test

The ACTIM Prom test is designed to detect amniotic fluid in vaginal discharge.
Main characteristics
During intrauterine development, the fetus is surrounded by amniotic fluid, also known as amniotic fluid. They ensure the safety of the fetus and protect it from many adverse factors. Leakage of amniotic fluid is considered a threatening sign of impending labor, including premature labor. That is why rupture of the membranes must be diagnosed in a timely manner, since timely administration of medication can save the pregnancy and avoid premature labor. Premature rupture of the membranes is dangerous because it can lead to placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse, and fetal infection. And, of course, premature labor threatens with serious complications for the child - the development of distress syndrome, for example. In the case of a full-term pregnancy, early detection of leaking membranes allows you to plan the type of labor.
The amount of natural discharge increases in women in the third trimester. Very often, women get scared, confusing natural abundant discharge with amniotic fluid.
Using regular sanitary pads and pads is of little help because the color of amniotic fluid can vary. It can be clear, cloudy, green, pink, or brown.
Sometimes the ruptures of the amniotic membrane are so microscopic that precious time is lost. Before the advent of amniotic fluid analysis, the only way to detect amniotic fluid leakage was with an ultrasound scan (USG), which could detect changes in the level of amniotic fluid.
However, ultrasound to determine the level of amniotic fluid could not help in cases of minor damage to the amniotic membrane, in which amniotic fluid leaks "drop by drop."
The popular advice to lie on the bed and watch for stains on the sheets does not stand up to criticism and is relevant in the case of serious ruptures of the amniotic membrane.
If you suspect that your amniotic fluid may be leaking, you should see a gynecologist with an Astim PROM test.
How it works
The test is based on an immunochromatographic assay. Vaginal secretions are collected with a swab, treated with a buffer solution, and detected by a protein that binds insulin-like growth factor, which is present in amniotic fluid in very high concentrations compared to the plasma of a pregnant woman.
The Farmasco Astim PROM amniotic fluid leak test will save you from anxiety and help you avoid wasting time in case of serious illnesses.
How to use
A swab is used to collect material from the walls of the vagina and cervix.
After it is sufficiently soaked with secretions, it is placed in a test tube with a solution and the composition is shaken with rotational movements.
The resulting liquid is then immersed in the indicator strip until it is saturated with the solution.
The result appears within the first 5 minutes:
If the PSIFR content is below the threshold value, an upper blue band appears in the strip display window. If the result is positive, two bands appear. The absence of bands on the indicator means that the test was performed incorrectly.Release form
The Actim Prom system is supplied in 1 package containing everything needed to perform the test: a polyethylene swab in sterile packaging, a tube with 0.5 ml of extraction solution, a test strip packaged separately with an adsorbent to eliminate excess moisture.
