Description
S-adenosyl-L-methionine (ademethionine) is a natural amino acid present in almost all tissues and fluids of the body. Ademethionine primarily acts as a coenzyme and methyl group donor in many transmethylation reactions, which is an important metabolic process in humans. The transfer of methyl groups (transmethylation) of ademethionine is also an important metabolic process in the construction of phospholipid cell membranes and plays a role in membrane fluidity.
Ademetionine is able to penetrate the blood-brain barrier. High concentrations of ademetionine affect transmethylation processes, which are very important in brain tissue, due to their effect on the metabolism of catecholamines (dopamine, adrenaline, noradrenaline), indolamines (serotonin, melatonin) and histamine.
Ademethionine is a precursor in the formation of physiological sulfur compounds (cysteine, taurine, glutathione, coenzyme A, etc.) in transsulfuration reactions. Glutathione, the most powerful antioxidant, is an important component for hepatic detoxification. Ademethionine increases glutathione levels in conditions of liver damage of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic genesis.
Absorption. After internal use of enteric-coated tablets of ademetionine, the maximum plasma concentration is dose-dependent, is 0.5-1 mg/l and is reached 3-5 hours after taking a single dose of 500 mg to 1000 mg. Plasma concentration decreases to the initial value within 24 hours. Bioavailability after oral administration increases if ademetionine is taken between meals.
Metabolism. The reactions that produce, utilize, and recycle ademethionine are called the ademethionine cycle. In the first step of this cycle, ademethionine-dependent methylase uses ademethionine as a substrate to produce S-adenosyl-homocysteine, which is then hydrolyzed to homocysteine and adenosine by S-adenosyl-homocysteine hydrolase. Homocysteine, in turn, undergoes reverse transformation to methionine by transfer of a methyl group from 5-methyltetrahydrofolate. Ultimately, methionine can be converted to ademethionine, completing the cycle.
Recommendations for use
It may be recommended by a doctor for consumption in diets for conditions accompanied by a decrease in the biosynthesis of hepatic S-adenosyl-L-methionine (the influence of harmful environmental factors, chronic disorders of the functioning of the hepatobiliary system, alcohol consumption), as an additional source of S-adenosyl-L-methionine to maintain normal function of the hepatobiliary system and overall strengthening of the body.
Reservation
Adenomac 500 is intended for adults only. Not recommended for hypersensitivity to the components, for bipolar depression. Should not be used as a substitute for a complete diet. Consume only on the recommendation and under the supervision of a physician. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Use with caution when taken simultaneously with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants (such as clomipramine), drugs and herbal remedies containing tryptophan. Use with caution with Adenomac 500 if you have high blood nitrogen levels.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Although no adverse reactions were observed in clinical studies in women taking ademetionine in the third trimester of pregnancy, ademetionine should be used in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy only after a careful assessment by the doctor of the benefit-risk ratio for the pregnant woman.
During breastfeeding, ademetionine is used only when the benefit of its use outweighs the risk to the infant.
Method of administration and doses
Adults 1 tablet per day or as recommended by a doctor. The duration of consumption is determined by the doctor individually.
