Pharmacological properties
A tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) is an antioxidant. It inhibits floor reactions, is enhanced in many diseases, prevents damage to cellular structures by free radicals. It participates in the processes of tissue respiration, heme and protein biosynthesis, fat and carbohydrate metabolism, cell proliferation and other metabolic processes. With a deficiency of vitamin E, degenerative changes develop in the muscles, the permeability and fragility of capillaries increase, the epithelium of the seminiferous tubules and testicles degenerates, degenerative processes are observed in the nervous tissue and hepatocytes. Vitamin E deficiency can cause hemolytic jaundice of newborns, malabsorption syndrome, steatorrhea.
After absorption in the digestive tract, most of the drug enters the lymph. It is rapidly distributed to all tissues, slowly excreted in the bile and in the form of metabolites - in the urine.
Indication
Muscular dystrophy of various genesis, dermatomyositis, Dupuytren's contracture, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, dermatosis, psoriasis, dysfunction of the male sex glands, menstrual disorders, the threat of abortion. The drug is effective in scleroderma, hypotrophy and other diseases in children. a - tocopherol acetate can increase the effectiveness of anticonvulsants in epilepsy. The drug is used for spasms of peripheral vessels, atherosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial dystrophy, in the complex therapy of other cardiovascular diseases and eye diseases. a - tocopherol acetate reduces the severity of side effects of chemotherapeutic agents.
Application
Inside. with muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other diseases of the neuromuscular system, the daily dose is 50-100 mg. taken for 30-60 days, repeating the course of treatment after 2-3 months.
In case of impaired spermatogenesis and potency in men, the daily dose is 100-300 mg. In combination with hormonal therapy, it is prescribed for 30 days.
In case of threatened abortion, α-tocopherol acetate is taken in a daily dose of 100-150 mg for 7-14 days; in case of impaired intrauterine development of the fetus, it is prescribed in the first trimester of pregnancy at 100-150 mg/day daily or every other day. In case of atherosclerosis, myocardial dystrophy, and peripheral vascular diseases, it is used together with vitamin A at 100 mg of the drug per day; the course of treatment is 20-40 days with a possible repetition after 3-6 months.
In complex therapy, vitamin E is prescribed in a dose of 50-100 mg 1-2 times a day (duration of treatment - 1-3 weeks). In skin diseases, the daily dose of the drug is 50-100 mg (course of treatment is 20-40 days). In scleroderma, hypotrophy and reduced capillary resistance in infants, it is used in a daily dose of 5-10 mg.

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Special instructions
It is prescribed with caution in acute myocardial infarction, severe atherosclerosis, and an increased risk of thromboembolism.
Interactions
A tocopherol acetate can be used simultaneously with iron, silver, and indirect anticoagulants.
Overdose
May manifest as diarrhea and epigastric pain.
