Composition

active ingredient: 5 ml of syrup contain marshmallow root dry extract (Althaeae radix) (extractant – water) calculated as 20.0% polysaccharide content – 7.5 mg;

excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) (preservative), refined sugar, purified water.

Dosage form

Syrup.

Main physical and chemical properties: syrupy liquid from yellow-brown to red-brown in color with a specific odor. During storage, the presence of sediment is allowed.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Syrup based on marshmallow root extract is a complex herbal preparation containing polysaccharides as the main active ingredient, as well as pectins, amino acids, starch. The drug has bronchosecretory, expectorant, enveloping effects. Reflexively stimulates the secretion of bronchial and salivary glands. Activates the formation of sputum, normalizing its rheological properties (viscosity, elasticity, adhesiveness), enhances the peristaltic movements of the bronchioles and the motor function of the ciliated epithelium of the bronchi, exerting cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects, promotes tissue regeneration.

Indication

Cough in acute and chronic respiratory diseases: bronchitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchial asthma, whooping cough.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

It is not recommended to use simultaneously with antitussives (e.g. codeine).

Application features

You should not violate the rules for using the medicine.

During storage, sediment may form. Shake before use.

If shortness of breath, fever, or purulent sputum develops during treatment, you should consult a doctor immediately.

The absorption of concomitant medications may be reduced. Other medications should be administered 1 hour before or 1 hour after the use of marshmallow root extract.

Use with caution in diabetes.

The presence of methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) in the composition may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

The use of the drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and work with other mechanisms.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

There is no information on the experience of using the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Method of administration and doses

Shake before use. Administer the drug before meals: adults and children over 14 years of age – 15 ml of syrup 4–6 times a day.

Children aged 6 to 14 years should be prescribed 10 ml of the drug 4–6 times a day; from 2 to 6 years - 5 ml of syrup 4–6 times a day.

The duration of the course of therapy is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the effectiveness of the treatment and, as a rule, is 7–14 days.

Children

The drug can be used in children from 2 years of age.

Overdose

Cases of overdose are unknown.

Adverse reactions

Allergic reactions, increased salivation, irritation of the gastric mucosa are possible. In case of any adverse reactions, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Expiration date

3 years.

The drug cannot be used after the expiration date indicated on the package.

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.

After opening, store for no more than 14 days at a temperature of 4–8 ° C. Keep out of the reach of children.
