Ambroxol tablets are used for acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract, which are accompanied by the formation of viscous secretions that are difficult to separate: acute and chronic bronchitis of various etiologies, with pneumonia, if the patient has bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, lung atelectasis, tracheitis, laryngitis, sinusitis, rhinitis. The drug is also advisable to use for respiratory failure syndrome (shock lung), for the prevention and treatment of complications after surgical interventions on the lungs.

Composition

Active ingredient: 1 tablet contains ambroxol hydrochloride - 0.03 g;

Excipients: pharmaceutical lactose, corn starch, aerosil, magnesium stearate.

Contraindication

Sensitivity to ambroxol. Ambroxol should not be used if the patient has a history of stomach and duodenal disease, in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation.

Method of application

Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed the drug in a dose of 1 tablet 3 times a day for the first 2-3 days of treatment (during or after meals), then the dose is reduced to 1 tablet 2 times a day or 1/2 tablet 3 times a day. The course of treatment is 4-14 days.

Children from 5 to 12 years old are prescribed 1/2 tablet 2-3 times a day.

It is better to prescribe the drug in the form of syrup or drops to newborns and children under 5 years of age.

The usual precautions regarding medication use during pregnancy should be observed. The drug is not recommended, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Children

Use in children aged 12 years and over. Children under 12 years of age should use dosage forms of Ambroxol with the appropriate active ingredient content to achieve the prescribed doses of the drug, for example, Ambroxol-Zdorovya, syrup, 15 mg / 5 ml, Ambroxol-Zdorovya forte, syrup, 30 mg / 5 ml.

Overdose

To date, no cases of overdose have been identified.

Side effects

Very rarely, general weakness, headache, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes are observed.

Interaction

With simultaneous use of ambroxol and ampicillin, amoxicillin, doxycycline, erythromycin, cefuroxime, the concentration of the above antibiotics in the lung tissue increases. The drug should not be taken together with drugs that suppress cough (for example, codeine), due to the difficult situation of sputum discharge from the bronchial tree due to suppression of the cough reflex.
