Composition

active ingredients: 19.55 g of powder contain: dry marshmallow root extract (Althaeae radix extractum siccum) – 4.0 g; sodium bicarbonate – 2.0 g; dry licorice root extract (Glycyrrhizae radix extractum siccum) – 1.0 g; ammonium chloride – 0.5 g; anise oil – 0.05 g;

excipients: sodium benzoate, confectioner's sugar.

Dosage form

Powder.

Main physical and chemical properties: powder from light beige to brownish-gray in color with the smell of anise oil. During storage, the powder may clump or form a solid porous mass, which should disintegrate when diluted with water. The aqueous suspension of the drug (1:10) has a color from light to dark brown.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug stimulates expectoration. The mechanism of action is due to the facilitation of mucus separation, improving its excretion (increased mucociliary clearance).

Indication

The drug is used as an antitussive, anti-inflammatory and expectorant in the complex treatment of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Organic heart damage (myocarditis, pericarditis, myocardial infarction), arterial hypertension; impaired liver and kidney function; hypokalemia; severe obesity.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

Concomitant use with cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmic drugs (quinidine), thiazide and loop diuretics, adrenocorticosteroids and laxatives may increase hypokalemia.

It is not recommended to use together with antitussives.

Application features

"Arid dry cough mixture for children" should be prescribed in complex therapy. To improve liquefaction and separation of sputum, it is recommended to prescribe a large amount of warm liquid orally when taking expectorants, especially secretomotor drugs. Patients with diabetes should consult a doctor before using the drug.

Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

The drug should be used in children aged 1 to 18 years. The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and work with other mechanisms.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

The drug should be used in children aged 1 to 18 years. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, treatment is prescribed by a doctor if the expected benefit to the woman outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Method of administration and doses

Before use, dilute the powder with boiled, cooled water to the mark on the bottle (200 ml).

Administer orally after meals, children aged 1 to 6 years – 1 teaspoon of the mixture 4–5 times a day, children aged 6 years and over – 1 dessert spoon 3–4 times a day. Shake the mixture before use. Store the diluted powder for 10 days at a temperature not exceeding +8 °C.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually depending on the achieved effect and the nature of the complex therapy.

Children

Recommended for use in children aged 1 to 18 years.

Overdose

Nausea, vomiting. Overdose and prolonged use (more than 2 months) may cause disturbances in water and electrolyte balance, resulting in the possible development of hypokalemic myopathy and myoglobinuria. Possible increase in side effects.

Adverse reactions

Prolonged use of licorice preparations in excessive doses can cause water and electrolyte imbalance and lead to the development of hypokalemia; in some cases, increased blood pressure, hypokalemic myopathy, and myoglobinuria are possible.

Allergic reactions are possible (skin rash, itching); hyperemia, edema; increased salivation, irritation of the gastric mucosa.
