Properties
Glucosamine is a natural water-soluble aminosaccharide that is a component of almost all human tissues, including cartilage and synovial fluid. Glucosamine is involved in the construction of cartilage, bone tissue, synthesis of joint fluid, connective tissue, and skin. It is used by chondrocytes to synthesize glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans, and hyaluronic acid. Glucosamine has a chondroprotective and moderate anti-inflammatory effect. Glucosamine deficiency can reduce the rate of lubricant production and cause it to thicken in the joints, which disrupts motor function. This reduces the shock-absorbing ability of the joint and leads to further joint injury. The use of glucosamine prevents the progression of degenerative processes in the musculoskeletal system, increases the rate of cartilage regeneration, normalizes metabolism in cartilage and bone tissue. In addition, it protects cartilage from the toxic effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and glucocorticoids.
Chondroitin sulfate is a high-molecular mucopolysaccharide that participates in the construction of cartilage tissue. Reduces the activity of enzymes that destroy articular cartilage and stimulates the regeneration of articular cartilage. Chondroitin sulfate helps reduce the activity of inflammation in the early stages and delays cartilage degeneration.
