Instructions for Benzyl Benzoate Transdermal Emulsion 20% Bottle 50 g
Composition
active ingredient: benzyl benzoate;
1 g of the drug contains 200 mg of benzyl benzoate;
excipients: laundry soap, emulsifier T-2, purified water.
Dosage form
The emulsion is applied to the skin.
Main physicochemical properties: white emulsion with a faint specific odor, which foams when shaken. The emulsion may separate, which is eliminated by shaking.

Pharmacodynamics
The drug has an anti-pediculosis and acaricidal effect on various types of mites, including scabies (Acarus scabiei). It passes through the chitinous cover and accumulates in the body of ectoparasites in toxic concentrations, causing the death of their larvae and adults; it does not affect eggs. Lice die after 2–5 hours, ticks after 7–32 minutes.
Pharmacokinetics
Penetrates the upper layers of the epidermis, is not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream.
Indication
Pediculosis, scabies, demodicosis.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Pustular diseases and skin lesions.
Special safety precautions
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
During treatment with the drug, it is necessary to follow the rules of personal hygiene; smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages and eating are prohibited.
In case of accidental ingestion of the drug:
in the mouth: rinse the mouth with water or a warm 2% sodium bicarbonate solution;
in the stomach: if the drug is accidentally taken internally, you should immediately consult a doctor;
in the eyes: rinse thoroughly with water or 1% sodium bicarbonate solution; if the mucous membrane of the eyes is irritated, instill a 30% solution of albucid, if pain occurs - a 2% solution of novocaine.
After completing the course of treatment, medical supervision is required for 2 weeks (and longer if there are complications).
Treatment of patients in the same outbreak, as well as contact persons, should be carried out simultaneously.
Complications in the form of pyoderma and eczema should be treated simultaneously with scabies and continued after its elimination.
Before starting scabies treatment, it is advisable for the patient to take a shower to mechanically remove mites from the skin surface, as well as to loosen the surface layer of the epidermis (to facilitate the penetration of the drug).
After each forced hand washing, it is necessary to treat them again. It is imperative to treat underwear and bed linen, outerwear and hats.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The use of the drug during pregnancy is contraindicated. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment.
Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

Method of administration and doses
Externally, topically (shake before use). For children aged 3 to 5 years, dilute the drug with boiled water in a ratio of 1:1.
Treatment of pediculosis. The drug is applied externally, locally (the drug must be shaken before use). Moisten a cotton or gauze swab with the emulsion, apply to the hair of the head or hairy parts of the body and rub lightly into the skin. Tie the head with a scarf. After 10 minutes of treatment for pubic pediculosis and after 30 minutes for head pediculosis, wash off the drug with running water. When washing off the drug from the head, avoid getting it on the skin of the face. After that, moisten the scarf with a warm 5% vinegar solution (mix a glass of vinegar with the same amount of water heated to 50 ° C) and, slightly squeezing the scarf, tie the head with it for 1 hour. The nits will then peel off from the hair. After this procedure, wash the hair with soap or shampoo, comb it with a thick comb, remove dead lice and nits. The effectiveness of anti-pediculosis treatment is determined after 1 hour or after 1 day. If nits remain, treat the hair again with only a 5% vinegar solution.
Scabies treatment. To prevent secondary infestation, simultaneous treatment of all family members living together, as well as contact persons, is necessary.
Before applying the emulsion, you must take a shower. Apply the emulsion (you can use a brush) to the entire body, except for the face and scalp. Apply especially carefully to the wrists, hands, armpits, buttocks, groin area, under the nails, areas between the fingers and toes, and the soles of the feet. Let the emulsion dry (usually 10 minutes in a warm room). After the emulsion has dried, put on clean underwear and change bed linen. Do not wash your hands for 3 hours after treatment.
With careful application of the emulsion, one treatment of the skin is usually sufficient. However, repeated treatment within 5 days reduces the likelihood of residual infestation.
Treatment of demodicosis. Apply the drug in the evening. Wash your face with warm water and soap, then apply the drug in a thin layer to the skin of the face, avoiding contact with the eyes, nose and mouth. In the morning, wash your face with warm water and soap. The duration of treatment is determined by the dynamics of cleansing the skin, stopping the inflammatory process, stopping itching and is usually 2–3 weeks.
Children. It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to children under 3 years of age. For use in children aged 3 to 5 years, dilute the drug with boiled water in a ratio of 1:1.
Overdose
Possible increased side effects of the drug, difficulty urinating, contact dermatitis, sudden loss of consciousness, and convulsions in children.
Treatment: symptomatic therapy.
Side effects
Mild skin irritation, redness of the skin, a short-term burning sensation, itching, dryness of the skin area treated with the drug, allergic reactions (including skin rashes, swelling) are possible.
If severe side effects develop, the drug should be washed off immediately with soap.
Expiration date
3 years.
After the first opening of the bottle, the drug is suitable for 7 days.
