Recommendations for use
- What is Bepanthen® Sensiderm cream and when should it be used?
Irritation, dryness, redness and itching of the skin can be caused by various factors, such as dry skin, atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema). Severe itching causes the need to scratch the skin, which in turn leads to additional skin damage.
Bepanthen® Sensiderm cream is a white, hormone-free cream that has a combined effect: it relieves itching and promotes the regeneration of the skin barrier, as well as helping the skin to heal and avoid scratching.
Bepanthen® Sensiderm, cream, is used to relieve itching and redness caused by skin irritation in the following conditions:
- dry skin;
- atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema).
Bepanthen® Sensiderm, cream, strengthens the skin's barrier function, which is ensured by the use of lamellar lipid technology (see next section). This strengthens the skin's own lipid layers, which provides natural protection against irritation. As a result, itching and redness are reduced, and skin regeneration is stimulated.
- What is itching and how to get rid of it?
In dry skin or atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema), the lipids in the stratum corneum (also called the skin barrier) are damaged, which can cause itching. Lipids, mainly ceramides, provide natural protection against irritation.
When the skin barrier is damaged, it loses moisture, which leads to dryness and itching. In addition, a weakened skin barrier is less effective at protecting the body from irritants, which also increases itching.
Therefore, in conditions such as dry skin or atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema), it is important to restore the protective skin barrier with special creams, such as Bepanthen® Sensiderm, a cream to relieve itching.
- How does Bepanthen® Sensiderm cream restore the skin barrier?
The skin barrier is the outer layer of the skin, a highly organized structure consisting of successive lipid layers, layers of lamellar (plate-shaped) lipids. The main lipids in these layers are ceramides. Natural humectants, which are located between these layers, retain moisture and ensure proper hydration of the skin.
Bepanthen® Sensiderm, cream, contains a special formula of lamellar lipids to reduce irritation and relieve itching. The cream contains lipids with a lamellar structure similar to the structure of the skin's own lipids, such as ceramides. Lamellar lipids can penetrate the damaged lipid barrier of the stratum corneum of the skin and bind to it, thereby restoring it. Itching relief is felt after just 30 minutes. Long-term hydration helps the skin to recover and thus relieves itching and irritation. Bepanthen® Sensiderm, cream, also contains natural humectants such as glycerin.
This effect is enhanced by Panthenol, which moisturizes the skin barrier and therefore provides optimal conditions for the natural skin regeneration process.
Unlike conventional creams, Bepanthen® Sensiderm does not contain emulsifiers, which are known to disrupt the delicate structure of the skin's lamellar lipids.
Bepanthen® Sensiderm, cream, does not contain fragrances or preservatives that may cause irritation.
Therefore, Bepanthen® Sensiderm cream relieves itching thanks to the following mechanisms:
- the lamellar (plate-like) structure promotes the integration of lipids into the skin, similar to those contained in the natural skin barrier;
- thanks to this, it enhances the skin's ability to retain moisture;
- strengthens the protective properties of the natural skin barrier.
This allows you to restore the skin barrier and relieve itching.
