General characteristics

CENTRAL AND PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DAMAGES:

The human nervous system is the most sensitive among other body systems to the influence of adverse factors, therefore it is the first and very quickly affected. Pathogenic factors of the external environment (hypoxia, injuries, toxins, including alcohol and drugs, infections, etc.), as well as internal pathological conditions (circulatory disorders (ischemia), metabolic disorders (e.g., diabetes mellitus, renal, hepatic failure), water and electrolyte metabolism, mechanical factors (e.g., compression of nerves and roots, edema, etc.), nonspecific inflammatory processes always lead to damage to the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Initially, metabolic processes in the nerve cell (neuron) are rapidly disrupted (oxygen utilization, Krebs cycle, energy production, synthesis of neurotransmitters (e.g., acetylcholine)), oxygen free radicals are formed, which leads to disruption of neuroaxonal transport, and then neurosynaptic transmission of the nerve impulse. This is usually manifested by significant pain, paresthesias, decreased or increased sensitivity, paralysis, dizziness, impaired attention, inattention, loss of balance and other symptoms. In more severe progressive cases, this leads to the destruction of nerve cells and significant and long-term neurological damage.

Indications for use

BINEVROL is used to restore metabolic processes in nerve cells, improve neurosynaptic function in lesions of the central and peripheral nervous system (encephalopathy, neuropathy, radiculopathy, neuritis).

Acetyl-L-carnitine is a natural cellular "isomer" of carnitine, which is synthesized in mitochondria, especially in neurons. Its effect on the cells of the nervous system is much greater than that of L-carnitine. It promotes the synthesis of acetylcholine and improves neurosynaptic transmission of nerve impulses. Acetylcarnitine is a donor of the acetyl group in the Krebs cycle and enhances metabolic processes in nerve cells. In the case of pathological processes, it has a significant neuroprotective effect, preventing the cascade of events leading to the death of neurons. Its neuroprotective effect has been described in hypoxia, intoxication, compression of nerves and roots with radiculopathy and neuritis, neuropathy, diabetes, vascular encephalopathies, Parkinson's disease. In combination with alpha-lipoic acid, it has a synergistic (mutually reinforcing) neuroprotective effect.

Alpha-lipoic (thioctic) acid is a coenzyme of glucose oxidation in the Krebs cycle and one of the most powerful antioxidants in the human body. Oxygen free radicals and peroxidation are the leading link in the development of most acute and chronic diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. Due to its powerful antioxidant action and restoration of glucose metabolism, alpha-lipoic acid breaks the pathological cascade of neuronal damage and promotes the restoration of neuronal function. Studies of the effective use of thioctic acid in ischemic brain lesions, metabolic encephalopathies and neuropathies, diabetic polyneuropathy are described. In combination with acetyl-L-carnitine, α-lipoic acid has a synergistic (mutually reinforcing) neuroprotective effect.
