Brionit eye drops solution 5 ml

The drug "Brioni" is used to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma and intraocular hypertension with insufficient effectiveness of topical beta-blockers.
Composition
1 ml of solution contains (active ingredients):
brimonidine tartrate - 2.0 mg; timolol maleate - 6.8 mg (in terms of timolol - 5.0 mg).Excipients: benzalkonium chloride; sodium dihydrogen phosphate, monohydrate; sodium hydrogen phosphate, heptahydrate; hydrochloric acid, diluted; sodium hydroxide; water for injections.
Contraindication
hypersensitivity to any component of the drug; increased reactivity of the respiratory tract, including bronchial asthma and cases of bronchoobstruction, including a history of severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, atrioventricular block, II-III degree block without an implanted artificial pacemaker, heart failure, cardiogenic shock; concomitant therapy with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO), antidepressants that affect noradrenergic transmission (tricyclic antidepressants and mianserin).Method of application
Recommended dose for adults, including elderly patients: one drop of Brioni should be instilled into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours. If 2 or more ophthalmic drugs are used, a 5-minute break should be taken between instillations.
As with the use of other eye drops, to reduce possible systemic absorption, it is recommended to briefly press on the lacrimal sac at the point of its projection at the inner corner of the eye or to close the eyelid for two minutes.
This should be done immediately after instillation of each drop to reduce systemic side effects and enhance local action.
Application features
Pregnant women
Controlled studies on the use of brimonidine with timolol in pregnant women have not been conducted, therefore the use of the drug during pregnancy is contraindicated.
Timolol passes into breast milk, so the use of Brioni during breastfeeding is contraindicated.
Children
The safety and effectiveness of the drug "Brioni" in children have not been established, therefore it cannot be used in pediatric practice.
Drivers
Brimonidine with timolol has a minor effect on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms. Against the background of the use of the drug "Brioni" may occur short-term visual impairment (blurry), the development of weakness and drowsiness, which impair the speed of reactions. In the event of the above symptoms, you should refrain from activities that require special attention.
Overdose
Overdose of brimonidine with timolol has been reported rarely in humans, without adverse reactions. Treatment of overdose includes supportive and symptomatic therapy. The patient's respiration should be supported.
Side effects
The most common adverse reactions were conjunctival hyperemia (approximately 15% of patients) and ocular burning sensation (approximately 11% of patients) based on data from a 12-month clinical study. In most cases, the severity of these symptoms was mild, requiring discontinuation of therapy in only 3.4% and 0.5% of cases, respectively.
