Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The herbal components (thyme herb and marshmallow root) included in the preparation belong to traditional herbal preparations used as expectorants for coughs associated with colds, mainly in long-term therapy. Essential oils and flavonoids of thyme herb have a bronchodilator, secretolytic and antibacterial effect, and contribute to the rapid dilution of phlegm accumulated in the respiratory tract, reduce cough, and facilitate breathing.
Marshmallow root contains polysaccharides that have a softening, anti-inflammatory, and enveloping effect and are used as a treatment for inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract.
The natural base (gum) promotes the slow release of the active ingredient, which causes a gradual cessation of secretion by the mucous membranes, thereby reducing irritation of the mucous membranes and stopping coughing. Quickly and for a long time protects the receptors of the respiratory tract mucosa from irritation.
Pharmacokinetics
Flavonoids of thyme herb (apigenin, luteolin) are broken down by intestinal microflora and are well absorbed. They are excreted from the body mainly with urine in unchanged form or in the form of metabolites.
