Pharmacodynamics
The pharmacological action of Candida is due to the properties of clotrimazole, which is part of its composition. Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent from the group of imidazole derivatives. Dermatophytes, yeast fungi, and mold fungi are sensitive to clotrimazole.
The effect of clotrimazole is associated with a disruption of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of fungi, as a result of which the structure and properties of the membranes change, and cell lysis is observed.
When applied topically, only small amounts of clotrimazole are absorbed into the bloodstream, so there are no systemic effects.
