Properties
Soybean (Glycine maxima (L.) Merr.) is an annual herbaceous plant of the legume family Fabaceae. Soybean is a source of isoflavones. Genistein, daidzein and glycitein are the main isoflavones of soy, which have a positive effect on the hormonal background of a woman. Isoflavones are natural compounds that have a similar effect to human estrogen and exhibit slight estrogenic activity, for which they are also called phytoestrogens. Unlike synthetic types of estrogen, which are able to bind to A and B receptors, isoflavones act exclusively on B receptors. They more effectively correct disorders of estrogen metabolism. The mechanism of action of soy isoflavones is to compete with endogenous estrogens for binding to receptors. Soy isoflavones are agonists and antagonists of a woman's own sex hormones.
Soy isoflavones reduce the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men; reduce the level of osteoporosis due to the effect on the concentration of minerals in bones; reduce the severity of menopausal discomfort associated with hormonal imbalance; exhibit antioxidant, antihypoxic, antitumor activity, and have anabolic effects. Flavonoids also have a positive effect on immune status.
Black cohosh (Actaea racemosa or Cimicifuga racemosa) is a perennial plant in the buttercup family. Black cohosh contains triterpene glycosides (23-epi-26-deoxyacteine and cimicifugoside), resins (cimicifugin), and aromatic acid derivatives (caffeic, isoferulic, and fucinolic acids). Native Americans used it to treat musculoskeletal pain, fever, cough, pneumonia, labor pains, and menstrual irregularities. European settlers used black cohosh as a tonic to support women's reproductive health. Today, black cohosh is most commonly used to treat menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes and night sweats (together known as vasomotor symptoms), vaginal dryness, palpitations, tinnitus, dizziness, sleep disturbances, nervousness, and irritability.
Angelica (Angelica L.) - perennial or annual herbaceous plants of the celery family (umbelliferae) - Ariaceae (Umbelliferae). Active ingredients have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, diuretic, diaphoretic and sedative properties, etc. Angelica roots contain essential oil (carvacrol, safflower) and furocoumarins; they are used as a tonic, analgesic, anticonvulsant, diaphoretic, and a means of regulating the menstrual cycle.
Infusions of crushed leaves of stinging nettle have diuretic, tonic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, weak choleretic, expectorant, lactogenic, tonic properties, increase the regeneration of the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, contribute to the normalization of the disturbed menstrual cycle, increase the tone of the myometrium and colon, and promote normal blood circulation and metabolism.
Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is an annual or biennial plant of the Asteraceae family, which is highly valued for its medicinal properties.
Milk Thistle fruit extract (Silybum marianum) has:
- Hepatoprotective effect: silymarin promotes the regeneration of liver cells, protecting them from damage caused by toxins, alcohol, drugs and infections. Milk thistle is effective in the treatment of various liver diseases, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, steatosis, etc.
- Antihepatotoxic activity: prevents toxic damage to the liver. The detoxification properties of silibinin are explained by the fact that it enters into a competitive relationship with hepatotropic poisons for binding to hepatocyte receptors.
- Antioxidant properties: silymarin improves the antioxidant defense of cells by binding free radicals, inhibiting lipid peroxidation processes and counteracting the depletion of glutathione reserves. This action of milk thistle prevents premature aging of cells and the development of chronic diseases.
- Choleretic effect: silymarin stimulates the production and outflow of bile, which helps to normalize the digestive process, the functioning of the liver and gallbladder, and prevents the formation of stones in the gallbladder and the development of cholecystitis.
- Lipid-lowering effect: milk thistle helps reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood, maintains normal blood glucose levels, which is a prevention of atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases.
