Powder for oral suspension "Cefodox" is used for infections caused by cefpodoxime-sensitive pathogens:
ENT organs (including acute otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis) (the drug should be prescribed for the treatment of chronic or recurrent infections, as well as in cases of known or suspected insensitivity of the pathogen to widely used antibiotics); respiratory tract (including pneumonia, acute bronchitis or bronchiolitis complicated by bacterial superinfection); uncomplicated infections of the upper and lower urinary tract (including acute pyelonephritis and cystitis); skin and soft tissues (abscesses, cellulitis, infected wounds, furuncles, folliculitis, paronychia, carbuncles and ulcers).Composition
The active substance is cefpodoxime (5 ml of suspension contains cefpodoxime (in the form of proxetil) 100 mg).
Excipients: hydroxypropylcellulose; microcrystalline cellulose; corn starch; sucrose; citric acid, monohydrate; colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide; simethicone; sodium carboxymethylcellulose-microcrystalline cellulose; xanthan gum; sodium saccharin; lemon flavor (powder); vanilla flavor (powder).
Contraindication
hypersensitivity to cephalosporin drugs, penicillins, or to any other components of the drug; hereditary fructose intolerance or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency.Method of application
Cefodox suspension is intended for use in pediatrics. The finished suspension should be taken orally with meals to enhance absorption.
Children aged 5 months to 12 years should be prescribed the drug at a dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight per day (maximum daily dose - 400 mg), which should be administered in 2 doses with an interval of 12 hours (maximum single dose - 200 mg). The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and is determined individually.
Instructions for preparing the suspension
To prepare the suspension, turn the bottle upside down and shake vigorously to loosen the powder, add boiled water cooled to room temperature in 2 portions to the line on the bottle (label), shaking vigorously each time, until a homogeneous suspension is formed. The volume of the finished suspension should reach the line (label) on the bottle. The suspension can be taken no earlier than 5 minutes after preparation. Before each dose, the finished suspension must be shaken thoroughly. After preparation, the finished suspension should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 14 days.
A measuring spoon is included to measure the suspension.

Overdose
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea. In case of overdose, especially in patients with renal insufficiency, encephalopathy may occur. Cases of encephalopathy are usually reversible at low levels of cefpodoxime in the blood plasma.
Treatment: Hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis. Symptomatic therapy.
Side effects
From the nervous system: infrequently (≥ 1/1000, <1/100) - cephalalgia.
Gastrointestinal disorders: infrequently (≥ 1/1000, <1/100) - abdominal pain, nausea.
From the organ of vision: eye irritation.
From the side of the organs of hearing and vestibular apparatus: tinnitus.
Storage conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, out of the reach of children.
Shelf life - 2 years (unopened bottle).
After preparation, store the finished suspension in the refrigerator for no more than 14 days.
