Cephalexin is used to treat mild to moderate infectious diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug, including infectious diseases of the genitourinary system, respiratory tract, ENT organs, skin and soft tissues.
Composition
Active ingredient: cephalexin.
5 ml of the finished suspension contain cephalexin 250 mg in the form of cephalexin monohydrate.
Excipients: sodium saccharin, citric acid, yellow iron oxide (E172), guar gum, sodium benzoate (E211), simethicone, sucrose, flavors.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, as well as to the excipients of the drug, porphyria.
Brain or spinal cord infections: Initial therapy for severe generalized infections requiring parenteral cephalosporin therapy.
Method of application
Adults are prescribed 250-500 mg every 6-12 hours for diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug.
For infectious diseases caused by less sensitive microorganisms, the daily dose is 2-4 g.
The minimum daily dose is 1 g.
Children are prescribed at the rate of 25-50 mg/kg of body weight; children under 10 years of age are recommended to be prescribed the drug in the form of a suspension.
The frequency of administration is 4 times a day.
Maximum daily dose for adults and children over 6 years of age 4 g
The duration of the treatment course is 7-14 days.
For infectious diseases caused by streptococci, the course of treatment should last at least 10 days.
It is recommended to take the drug 30-60 minutes before meals, with water.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose: vomiting, nausea, epigastric pain, diarrhea, hematuria.
In this case, it is necessary to take activated charcoal, as well as maintain airway patency, monitor vital functions, blood gases, and electrolyte balance.
Side effects
Gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders: diarrhea, transient increase in hepatic transaminase activity.
From the hematopoietic system: eosinophilia, neutropenia.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, weakness.
Allergic reactions: rarely - itching, skin reactions, anaphylactic shock.
The development of superinfection, in particular, candidiasis of the vaginal mucosa, is possible.
Interaction
With simultaneous use with furosemide, ethacrynic acid, nephrotoxic antibiotics, the risk of kidney damage increases.
Salicylates and indomethacin slow down the elimination of cephalexin. Cephalexin reduces the prothrombin index and enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants.

Store in a dry, dark place out of reach of children at a temperature of 15° to 25°C.
