Pharmacological properties

Chloropyramine (hydrochloride n - dimethylaminoethyl, -n- (para-chlorobenzyl) -aminopyridine) - antihistamine drug of the group of substituted ethylenediamine. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect, reduces capillary permeability, and has peripheral anticholinergic, sedative and hypnotic effects.

Indication

Allergic dermatoses (urticaria, eczema, skin itching, dermatitis), allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, hay fever, Quincke's edema, drug allergy, initial stages of asthma.

Application

In severe and acute cases of allergic reactions, chloropyramine is administered intramuscularly or intravenously in 1-2 ml of a 2% solution.

Contraindication

Glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, gastric ulcer.

Side effects

Drowsiness, general weakness, digestive disorders.

Special instructions

In case of anaphylactic shock, as well as in cases of other acute and severe allergic reactions, it is recommended to begin therapy with intravenous administration of the drug, then continue treatment with intramuscular administration of chloropyramine.

At the beginning of treatment, patients taking the drug should refrain from performing work that requires increased attention and quick reactions. In the future, these restrictions depend on the individual response to the treatment.

Alcohol consumption is prohibited during treatment.

Interactions

Chloropyramine, when combined with tricyclic antidepressants, enhances parasympathomimetic effects.

Overdose

In children, it is manifested by agitation, anxiety, hallucinations, ataxia, athetosis, convulsions, mydriasis and immobility of the pupils, hyperemia of the facial skin, hyperthermia, then vascular collapse, coma; in adults - inhibition, depression, comatose state, then psychomotor agitation, convulsions, rarely - hyperthermia and hyperemia of the skin. Treatment is symptomatic.
