Cito test hcv test system for detecting hepatitis c virus No. 1

CITO TEST HCV is a rapid immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of antibodies to hepatitis C virus in a whole blood serum or plasma sample.
The test uses a combination of protein A-coated particles and recombinant viral proteins to selectively detect antibodies to hepatitis C virus in a test sample.
The test uses recombinant viral proteins that encode both structural and non-structural proteins.
Hepatitis C is an anthroponotic viral disease with a parenteral mechanism of transmission, most often manifested as post-transfusion hepatitis, with a predominance of jaundice and a tendency to transition to a chronic form.
Hepatitis C is called the "silent killer" because of its ability to mask its true cause under the guise of many other diseases *.
* The most dangerous is the chronic form of the disease, which often progresses to cirrhosis and liver cancer; the chronic course develops in approximately 90% of adults and up to 20% of children.
Features
Hepatitis C virus is a small enveloped virus whose genetic material consists of single-stranded positive-sense RNA. It is known to be the causative agent of hepatitis C.
Antibodies to this virus have been detected in 80% of patients with confirmed hepatitis C.
The virus cannot be isolated in cell culture or observed under electron microscopy using conventional methods.
Cloning of the viral genome allowed the development of serological tests using recombinant antigens.
Compared to the first generation of HCV ELISA tests, which used a single type of recombinant antigen, new serological tests use multiple types of antigens in the form of recombinant protein and/or synthetic peptides to avoid nonspecific cross-reactivity and increase sensitivity to HCV antibody.
