Clarithromycin Ananta is an antibacterial agent for systemic use. Macrolide.
Indications for use
Treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to clarithromycin; infections of the upper respiratory tract, i.e. nasopharynx (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), and paranasal sinuses; infections of the lower respiratory tract (bronchitis, acute croupous pneumonia and primary atypical pneumonia); infections of the skin and soft tissues (impetigo, folliculitis, erysipeloid, furunculosis, infected wounds); acute and chronic odontogenic infections.Warehouse
1 film-coated tablet contains 500 mg of clarithromycin; excipients: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, magnesium stearate, crospovidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, hypromellose, isopropyl alcohol, dichloromethane, talc, polyethylene glycol 6000, quinoline yellow dye (E 104), sunset yellow FCF dye (E 110), titanium dioxide (E 171).Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics and to other components of the drug; simultaneous use of clarithromycin and oral midazolam; simultaneous use of clarithromycin and lomitapide.Method of application
The recommended dose of clarithromycin for adults and children aged 12 years and over is 250 mg every 12 hours, with more severe infections the dose may be increased to 500 mg every 12 hours. The usual duration of treatment depends on the severity of the infection and is 6 to 14 days.
The drug can be used regardless of meals, since food does not affect the bioavailability of clarithromycin.
Application features
The use of any antimicrobial therapy, including clarithromycin, for the treatment of H. pylori infection may lead to the emergence of microbial resistance.
Clarithromycin should not be prescribed to pregnant women without careful benefit/risk assessment, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Prolonged use of clarithromycin, as with other antibiotics, may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible bacteria and fungi. If superinfection occurs, appropriate therapy should be initiated.
Pregnant women
Clarithromycin should not be used during pregnancy without careful benefit/risk assessment.
Children
Children under 12 years of age should use the drug in suspension form, as the use of clarithromycin tablets in children of this age has not been studied.
Drivers
There are no data on the effects. However, when driving or operating other mechanisms, one should take into account the possible occurrence of adverse reactions from the nervous system, such as seizures, dizziness, vertigo, hallucinations, confusion, disorientation.
Overdose
Symptoms: Overdose with clarithromycin has been reported to cause gastrointestinal symptoms. One patient with a history of bipolar psychosis who took 8 grams of clarithromycin developed altered mental status, paranoid behavior, hypokalemia, and hypoxemia.
Side effects
Infections and invasions: cellulitis, candidiasis, gastroenteritis.
From the blood and lymphatic system: leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocythemia, eosinophilia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia.
Immune system disorders: anaphylactoid reactions, hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions, angioedema.
Metabolism and nutrition disorders: anorexia, decreased appetite, hypoglycemia.
On the part of the psyche: insomnia, anxiety, nervousness, psychosis, confusion, depersonalization, depression, disorientation, hallucinations, nightmares, mania.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
