Indications for use:
It is prescribed for skin mycoses caused by dermatomycetes, blastomycetes, mold fungi, for skin mycoses with secondary infection, as well as for urogenital candidiasis.


Method of application:
It is used in the form of an ointment (cream), solution and intravaginal tablets (tablets inserted into the vagina), liquid for spraying. The cream or solution is applied to the affected areas with a thin layer 2-3 times a day, rubbed in. The course of treatment is usually up to 4 weeks or more. In case of mycosis of the feet, in order to avoid relapses (reappearance of signs of the disease), treatment is continued for 3 weeks after the symptoms of the disease disappear. Before lubricating the feet, wash them with warm water and soap and dry them thoroughly, especially the interpallium spaces.
For the treatment of urogenital candidiasis, a tablet is inserted into the vagina at night, and the vulva (female external genitalia) and perineum are lubricated with a cream. A 1% solution is also instilled (dropped) into the urethra (urethra) for 6 days.
There is data on the use of the drug for the treatment of lichen planus. Apply 1% cream or 1% solution to the lesions for 10 days or more (up to 3-4 weeks).
Clotrimazole 1% spray liquid is applied in a thin layer to the affected skin surfaces, 2-3 times a day. After the disappearance of acute symptoms of the disease, the course of treatment is usually continued for up to 4 weeks, until the symptoms disappear completely.


Side effects:
Side effects are rare when the drug is used topically. However, allergic reactions may occur.


Contraindication:
Hypersensitivity or allergy to the components of the drug is a contraindication for the use of clotrimazole.


pregnancy:
The first trimester of pregnancy is a contraindication for the use of clotrimazole.


Interaction with other drugs:
Clotrimazole may inhibit the action of other topical antifungal agents, especially polyene antibiotics (nystatin, natamycin).
Dexamethasone, used in high doses, inhibits the antifungal effect of clotrimazole.
The antifungal effect of clotrimazole is enhanced by high local concentrations of p-oxybenzoic acid propyl ester.


Release form:
1% cream in 20 g tubes; solution in 15 ml orange glass bottles; vaginal tablets 0.1 g complete with applicator in a package of 3 pieces; vaginal cream in 20 g tubes complete with applicator.

To prevent reinfection, simultaneous treatment of sexual partners is necessary. In the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, the use of a vaginal applicator is undesirable. In trichomoniasis, it is recommended to combine treatment with chemotherapeutic drugs (metronidazole orally). After applying the cream, occlusive dressings should not be applied. It is necessary to avoid contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes. In patients with liver failure, the functional state of the liver should be periodically monitored. If signs of hypersensitivity or irritation appear, treatment is discontinued. In the absence of effect within 4 weeks, the diagnosis should be confirmed.
