Description
Dannose URO-PROLONG is designed for use as a dietary factor to support the body's natural defenses in conditions that can cause inflammation of the bladder and urinary tract.
Dannose URO-PROLONG is a source of biologically active substances D-mannose and cranberry fruit extract, namely proanthocyanidins
According to open publicly available sources of information, the components that make up the dietary supplement have the following properties:
D-mannose
Urinary tract infections are mainly caused by the uropathogenic bacterium Escherichia coli, which has the property of attaching to the mucous membrane of the walls of the urinary tract, which leads to infection and an inflammatory reaction. The monosaccharide D-mannose prevents the attachment of Escherichia coli bacteria to the cells of the bladder and urinary system, i.e. inhibits bacterial adhesion to the urothelium, thereby preventing the development of infection and inflammatory reaction, contributing to a decrease in the frequency of exacerbations of urological infections. D-mannose is considered a natural alternative to antibiotics that does not have a negative effect on the natural microflora. After administration, at least 90% of D-mannose is absorbed in the upper intestine and is rapidly excreted from the bloodstream by the kidneys. Most of it is excreted unchanged in the urine within 30–60 minutes, the rest is excreted within the next 8 hours. During this time, there is no significant increase in blood glucose levels.
Proanthocyanidins (Vaccinium macrocarpon L.)
Proanthocyanidins contained in cranberry extract (Vaccinium macrocarpon L.) reduce the ability of Escherichia coli to adhere to cells of the bladder and urinary tract, which in turn prevents the development of inflammation. Cranberry proanthocyanidins inhibit the adhesion of uropathogenic strains of Escherichia coli and have a high concentration in urine, which prevents the formation of biofilms, while proanthocyanidins affect antibiotic-resistant strains of Escherichia coli. There is also data on the ability to inhibit the adhesion of other types of bacteria: Proteus spp., P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, S. typhimurium and E. faecalis to epithelial cells of the human urinary tract. Cranberry concentrate has bacteriostatic, bactericidal, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and diuretic properties.
Recommendations for use
It can be used in dietary diets recommended by a doctor for children, adults and pregnant women as an additional source of biologically active substances D-mannose and cranberry fruit extract (proanthocyanidins) to support the normal functioning of the bladder and lower urinary tract. It can also be consumed as a dietary factor to support the body's natural defenses in conditions that can cause inflammation of the bladder and lower urinary tract.
