Liquid for external use Dimexide is indicated as part of complex therapy for inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew's disease, deforming osteoarthritis (in the presence of periarticular tissue damage; in arthropathy, tendon sprains due to bruising, traumatic infiltrates, acute and chronic osteomyelitis, streptoderma, purulent wounds, abscesses.
Composition
Active ingredient: dimethyl sulfoxide;
1 bottle contains 50 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the drug. Cardiovascular failure, severe atherosclerosis, angina pectoris, impaired renal or hepatic function, stroke, myocardial infarction, comatose states, glaucoma, cataracts.
Method of application
Apply in the form of aqueous solutions (30-50% concentration) for compresses and tampons.
Gauze wipes moistened with Dimexide solution should be applied to the affected areas, capturing the adjacent healthy areas of the skin, once a day for 20-30 minutes. Place plastic wrap and cotton or linen cloth over the wipe.
For diffuse streptoderma, compresses with a 40-90% solution of Dimexide® are recommended.
For purulent skin diseases, use a 40% solution.
In skin plastic surgery, use dressings with a 10-20% solution of the drug on transplanted skin auto- and homografts immediately after surgery and in the following days of the postoperative period until the graft is stable.
As a preservative for storing skin homografts, use a 5% solution of Dimexide® in Ringer's solution.
Application features
Pregnant women
The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy.
Children
Do not use the drug in children under 12 years of age.
Drivers
It should be used with caution, taking into account the effects on the central nervous system, in particular the likelihood of dizziness.
Overdose
Overdose of the drug may cause allergic reactions (urticaria, edema) and increased manifestations of adverse reactions.
Treatment: Discontinuation of the drug, symptomatic therapy.
Side effects
Dimethyl sulfoxide is usually well tolerated, but some patients may experience:
On the part of the immune system: allergic reactions including dermatitis, skin rash, angioedema, itching, burning, redness of the skin, erythema, dry skin.
Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
From the side of the central and peripheral nervous system: headache, dizziness, insomnia, adynamia.
Respiratory system: bronchospasm.
Interaction
Dimethyl sulfoxide enhances the effect of ethanol (alcohol inhibits the excretion of the drug) and insulin, acetylsalicylic acid, butadione; digitalis preparations, quinidine, nitroglycerin, antibiotics (streptomycin, monomycin), chloramphenicol, rifampicin, griseofulvin, sensitizes the body to anesthetics. It should be taken into account that the drug enhances both the specific activity and toxicity of drugs. It can be used together with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the complex therapy of deforming osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis; in combination with local antimicrobial agents (synthomycin liniment) - for the treatment of streptoderma.
