Overdose
Symptoms: feeling of warmth in the body, redness of the facial skin, increased sweating, irritability, general weakness and dizziness, hypotension, tachycardia, angina attacks.
Treatment: use of adsorbents, symptomatic treatment with vasopressor agents is recommended. The administration of xanthine (e.g. aminophylline) inhibits the vasodilatory effect of dipyridamole.
Due to the fact that dipyridamole has a high degree of protein binding, dialysis is ineffective.
The vasodilator effect of dipyridamole can be reversed by administering aminophylline (50-100 mg over one minute). If angina attacks occur, administer sublingual nitroglycerin.
