Resveratrol (grape seed extract) is a natural antioxidant that has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, helping to remove harmful substances from the body. Researchers from the University of Ullmann (Germany) led by Pamela Fischer-Posowski found that resveratrol slows the growth of pre-fat cells, as well as prevents their transformation into mature fat cells. Resveratrol prevents the accumulation of fat and slows the development of obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes and coronary artery blockage. Studies have confirmed the theory that resveratrol in red wine explains the "French paradox", which is that the French eat relatively fatty foods but have a relatively low mortality rate from heart disease.
