Resveratrol (grape seed extract) is a natural antioxidant that has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, helping to remove harmful substances from the body. Researchers at Ullmann University (Germany) led by Pamela Fischer-Posowski found that resveratrol slows down the growth of pre-fat cells and their transformation into mature fat cells. Resveratrol also prevents fat accumulation and slows the development of obesity-related disorders, such as diabetes and coronary artery disease. Studies have confirmed the theory that resveratrol in red wine explains the “French paradox”, which is that the French consume relatively fatty foods, but have a very low mortality rate from heart disease.
