Hepatitis B vaccine, sterile suspension containing purified major surface antigen of the virus, obtained using recombinant DNA technology and adsorbed on aluminum hydroxide. Antigen isolated from a culture of yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) containing the gene encoding the major surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus (HBsAg). This yeast cell surface antigen is carefully purified using several sequentially applied physicochemical methods. The surface antigen spontaneously transforms into spherical particles with a diameter of 20 nm containing non-glycosylated polypeptides and a lipid matrix consisting mainly of phospholipids. Numerous and long-term studies have confirmed the presence of properties characteristic of viral HBsAg in these particles.

Standardization of fermentation and purification methods has ensured high stability of the vaccine composition. The vaccine undergoes a high degree of purification and meets WHO requirements for recombinant hepatitis B vaccines. It does not use ingredients that are based on human body substances.
