Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The main active component of the drug is eucalyptus oil containing at least 80% of antispasmodically active 1,8-cineole. Its action is combined with the action of coniferous oil, which contains 30-40% alpha-pinenes, which improve blood supply. The pharmacological action of these essential oils leads to the dilution and dissolution of bronchial secretions, increased excretion by the ciliated epithelium, reduction of catarrhal manifestations in the respiratory tract, and anti-inflammatory action. Due to their lipophilic properties, the active substances are well distributed on the skin and absorbed. After absorption, they are partially excreted through the lungs, and therefore enter the bloodstream directly to the site of action. Thus, the preliminary effect that occurs during inhalation is enhanced by taking baths and, in the case of bed rest, is supplemented by the positive effect of a warm bath, which, in combination with the active substances, causes sweating.
Pharmacokinetics
Not studied.
Indication
To relieve symptoms of colds and respiratory diseases with excessive sputum production.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug. Bronchial asthma, whooping cough, pseudocroup, tendency to seizures. Damaged skin, for example, with burns and impaired skin integrity. Severe hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract, for example, with impaired vocal cord function.

Method of administration and doses
Evkabal® balm should be used for rubbing or inhalation.
Friction.
For rubbing, use Evkabal® balm undiluted.

For children aged 6 months to 2 years, the drug can be applied only to the back. Care should be taken to prevent children from coming into contact with the applied emulsion (cover the area of the child's body with appropriate clothing).
Inhalation of vapors.
It is recommended to carry out 3 inhalations of steam daily for several days until the symptoms disappear. Dissolve a strip of emulsion 3-5 cm long (1 teaspoon) in 1-2 liters of hot water (not higher than 70 ° C) and inhale the steam under a towel placed on the head (the distance to the water should be at least 20 cm), or through an inhaler. When using an inhaler, mix the strip of emulsion with hot water in the lower part of the inhaler (for children aged 6 to 12 years - 2-3 cm, for children aged 12 years and adults - 3-5 cm).
If symptoms do not improve within 4-5 days or worsen, in case of shortness of breath, fever, or sputum with pus or blood, you should consult a doctor.
