Eurosidim powder for injection is indicated in the treatment of the following infections in adults and children, including newborns:

Treatment of bacteremia occurring in patients as a result of any of the above infections.

Composition

Active ingredient: ceftazidime;

1 vial contains ceftazidime (in the form of ceftazidime pentahydrate) 1.0 g;

Excipients: sodium carbonate anhydrous.

Contraindication

Method of application

Eurosydim should be administered by injection or infusion or by deep intramuscular injection. The recommended sites for intramuscular administration are the upper outer quadrant of the gluteus maximus muscle or the lateral part of the thigh.

Ceftazidime solutions can be administered directly into a vein or into an intravenous infusion system if the patient is receiving fluids parenterally.

The dose depends on the severity of the disease, sensitivity, location and type of infection, as well as the patient's age and renal function.

Acquired antibiotic resistance varies between regions and can change over time, and for individual strains it can vary significantly. It is advisable to use local (local) data on antibiotic susceptibility, especially when treating severe infections.

Overdose

Overdose may result in neurological complications such as encephalopathy, convulsions and coma. Symptoms of overdose may occur in patients with renal insufficiency unless the dose is reduced accordingly. Serum ceftazidime concentrations can be reduced by haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

Like other antibiotics, Eurosidim may affect the intestinal flora, leading to reduced reabsorption of estrogens and reduced effectiveness of combined oral contraceptives.
