Fastin, an ointment, has antiseptic properties and a superficial anesthetic effect.

Pharmacokinetics.

Fastin ointment contains anestezin (benzocaine) 30 mg. Benzocaine is poorly soluble in water, which causes its slow absorption. Like all ether derivatives of para-aminobenzoic acid, it is broken down by esterases in the blood plasma and liver. As a result, para-aminobenzoic acid and ethyl alcohol are formed, which is metabolized to acetyl-coenzyme A. Para-aminobenzoic acid is conjugated with glycine or excreted by the kidneys unchanged. The degree of systemic action of the drug after application to the skin has not been studied.

Clinical characteristics.

Indication.

Local treatment of first-degree burns, fresh second- and third-degree burns, pyoderma, and purulent wounds.

Contraindication.

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. allergic and toxic reactions (dyspepsia, dysbacteriosis, mental disorders) to chloramphenicol in history, hypersensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives. psoriasis, eczema, fungal skin diseases, allergic dermatoses.

Fastin, ointment is used for adults and children by applications to the skin. The ointment is applied in a thin layer on a sterile gauze napkin, which is placed on the affected skin surface. The bandage is changed once every 7-10 days. More frequent changes of the bandage are carried out in the presence of pain, accumulation of exudate and in other cases that can reduce the effectiveness of the drug and lead to complications of the pathological process.

Children.

Preparations containing synthomycin for topical use are not prescribed to children in the first 4 weeks of life.

The drug is used with caution in children under 6 years of age only as prescribed by a doctor.

Overdose.

Possible increase in adverse reactions. Treatment is symptomatic.
