Pharmacological properties

Combined drug for external use. Fluocinolone acetonide is a fluorinated glucocorticoid - a derivative of triamcinolone, has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and antiallergic effect. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that exhibits bacteriostatic action against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The drug is effective in the treatment of allergic and inflammatory skin diseases complicated by secondary bacterial infection.

When applied topically to large areas of skin, especially when using occlusive dressings, it can be absorbed and have a systemic effect.

Indication

Treatment of dry dermatoses, especially of allergic origin with signs of secondary infection sensitive to neomycin, during which it is accompanied by persistent itching or hyperkeratosis. The drug is indicated for seborrheic dermatitis, urticarial lichen, atopic dermatitis, allergic contact eczema, erythema multiforme, lupus erythematosus, advanced psoriasis, lichen planus.

Application

The ointment is applied to the affected areas of the skin with a thin layer 1-3 times a day. The ointment is used for subacute inflammatory processes and lichenification. The course of treatment is no more than 2 weeks.

Contraindication

Allergy to corticosteroids, hypersensitivity to aminoglycoside antibiotics or other components of the drug. bacterial, fungal and viral dermatitis, chickenpox, skin tumors, skin cancer, acne rosacea and vulgaris, perianal and genital itching, perioral dermatitis, diaper dermatitis, thrombophlebitis and trophic ulcers on the background of varicose veins, after prophylactic vaccinations. The drug should not be used on large areas of the skin, especially wounds that do not heal for a long time, for example, deep burn wounds. It is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age. The drug should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy, during breastfeeding.

Side effects

Violation of epithelialization, atrophy of the skin and subcutaneous fat, striae, skin hyperemia, hyperkeratosis, delayed wound healing, petechiae, hematomas. When applying the drug to large areas of the skin, especially under an occlusive dressing, resorption of neomycin and the development of ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity are possible.

Special instructions

The drug is not recommended for application to moist areas and is not used on the skin of the face and large areas of the skin. It is used with extreme caution in patients with glaucoma and cataracts, in patients with weak subcutaneous fat, especially in the elderly. It is prescribed to adolescents only in exceptional cases and on small areas of the skin; application of the drug to the skin of the face should be avoided.

It is not recommended for use during pregnancy. With prolonged use of the drug and when applying the ointment to large areas of skin, there is a risk of systemic effects of fluocinolone acetonide.

Interactions

During treatment with GCS, vaccination against smallpox or other types of immunization should not be carried out due to the immunosuppressive effect of GCS.
