Fuzicutan ointment 2% tube 15 g
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that is formed during the growth of fusidium coccineum. It disrupts the synthesis of microbial cell protein, depending on the dose, acts bacteriostatically or bactericidally. The drug has a pronounced antibacterial effect on a wide range of gram-positive microorganisms: staphylococcus spp., streptococcus spp., corynebacterium minutissimum and propionibacterium acnes, including staphylococci resistant to penicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin and other antibiotics. Fuzicutan can act through intact skin.
Pharmacokinetics: During topical application, systemic absorption is negligible.
Indication
Treatment of primary or secondary infections of the skin and soft tissues caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium minutissimum and Propionibacterium acnes), including: impetigo, folliculitis, paronychia, sycosis of the skin in the beard area, erythrasma, acne, infected wounds and burns, infected contact dermatitis, infected eczema-like dermatitis (as monotherapy or in combination with systemic therapy).
The ointment should be used for dry lesions and chronic processes. The cream is quickly absorbed and is recommended during the healing and wet wound stage.
Application
Apply to adults and children over 1 month of age with a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin 2-3 times a day for 7 days. Acne treatment should be carried out for a long time - up to 14 days. Can be used under a bandage. If there are necrotic masses, they must be removed before applying the drug.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to fusidic acid and other components of the drug; infections that are not sensitive to the drug, for example, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Side effects
Hypersensitivity reactions may develop, including rash, flushing, burning, itching, irritation at the site of application. Pain, tingling sensation, dermatitis, including contact and eczematous, conjunctivitis, periorbital edema are possible.
The drug contains butylhydroxyanisole (E320), potassium sorbate, cetyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Butylated hydroxyanisole may also cause irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.
Special instructions
It is necessary to apply the drug to the skin around the eyes with caution, avoiding getting the ointment/cream in the eyes, as this may cause irritation of the conjunctiva.
Bacterial resistance has been reported with topical fusidic acid. As with all topical antibiotics, prolonged and repeated use of the cream may increase the risk of contact sensitization and the development of antibiotic resistance.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There is no clinical experience with the use of the drug during pregnancy. Fusidic acid crosses the placenta. Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity.
Fusidic acid passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment.
Children. Use in children over 1 month of age.
Ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms. Fusidic acid has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive vehicles or other mechanisms.
Interactions
When the drug comes into contact with latex condoms, the integrity of the latter may be compromised.
Overdose
The use of the drug in increased doses (large amounts, large application areas, or more frequent use of the drug than recommended) may cause an increase in the severity of adverse reactions.
Storage conditions
At a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C. after opening the tube, the shelf life is 6 months.
