Pharmacological properties
Polyethylene glycol 400 has humectant properties, which contributes to long-term moisture retention on the mucosa.
Sodium hyaluronate (aqueous solution of the sodium salt fraction of hyaluronic acid) is a natural high-molecular biopolymer, an unsulfated glycosaminoglycan, which is part of the connective, epithelial and nervous tissues in the human body. It is one of the main components of the extracellular matrix, which is contained in many biological fluids (saliva, synovial fluid, vitreous humor, etc.). Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in the hydrodynamics of body tissues and takes a significant part in cell proliferation and migration, has proangiogenic properties. The mucoadhesive and viscoelastic effect of hyaluronic acid helps to improve the stability of the tear film and keeps the ocular surface lubricated (moistened) and protected, creates a favorable microenvironment for the processes of re-epithelialization, restoration of the ocular surface in cases of corneal and conjunctival damage.
Recommendations for use
GLIHAT maintains hydration and relieves discomfort from eye irritation. GLIHAT is recommended for use in:
- as a means for daily moisturizing the mucous membrane of the eye to preserve its protective physiological properties in conditions of increased air dryness;
- to protect and lubricate (moisturize) the mucous membrane of the eyes when discomfort, burning, or irritation occurs;
- to eliminate symptoms of dryness and eye irritation in contact conjunctivitis, which may be caused by the effects of cosmetics, chlorinated water, cold/hot/air-conditioned air, wind, dust, smoke, ultraviolet radiation, or due to taking certain medications, etc.;
- to reduce irritation and dryness of the eye mucosa in patients who use contact lenses (there is no need to remove contact lenses beforehand);
- for dry eye syndrome in the pre- and postoperative periods for cataracts, after laser vision correction, etc.;
- to clean the mucous membrane of the eye from dust and allergens;
- when spending a long time in front of a computer monitor, reading, or driving a car;
