Composition:
Active ingredient: glycerol;
1 suppository contains 0.88 g or 2.63 g of glycerin;
Excipients: sodium carbonate decahydrate; stearic acid; macrogol 400.

Main physical and chemical properties: suppositories are translucent, almost colorless or with a faint yellowish tint, with a colored surface, hygroscopic. The presence of a funnel-shaped depression, an air core, clouding of suppositories, slight softening of the surface layer, the presence of condensate on the packaging is allowed.

Pharmacodynamics.
In its pure form, glycerin has an irritating effect, which disappears when water (up to 30-50%), petroleum jelly, lanolin is added. When inserted into the rectum, suppositories have a mild irritating effect on the mucous membrane and reflexively stimulate defecation.
When used in the form of rectal suppositories, it facilitates the elimination of feces.
The effect of the drug occurs within 5 - 30 minutes.
Pharmacokinetics.
After rectal administration, absorption is weak, the duration of stay in the body is short. It practically does not enter the systemic bloodstream and does not show systemic side effects.
Clinical characteristics.
Indication.
Constipation of various etiologies (when the use of oral medications is impossible).
Contraindication.
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. intestinal obstruction, renal failure, appendicitis, bleeding, diarrhea, hemorrhoids in the acute stage, anal fissures, inflammatory diseases, rectal tumors, undiagnosed abdominal pain.
Interaction with other drugs and other types of interactions.
The drug may interact with other medications.
Glycerin suppositories may weaken the effect of other drugs used rectally. An interval of several hours must be observed.
Application features.
It is not recommended to use suppositories for a course of treatment of more than 1 week.
Use with caution in case of impaired kidney function, allergies, nausea, vomiting.
Hands should be washed thoroughly before and after using suppositories.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
During pregnancy, the drug can be used only when the expected benefit to the pregnant woman outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
It is not known whether glycerin is excreted in breast milk, so the drug can be prescribed by a doctor only if the expected benefit to a breastfeeding woman outweighs the potential risk to the child.
The ability to influence the reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms.

Method of administration and doses.
Apply 1 suppository once a day 15-20 minutes after breakfast.
The suppository is inserted into the rectum and kept there for at least 5 minutes, unless defecation occurs earlier. The remains of the suppository are excreted from the body along with the feces. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 2 suppositories per day.
Adults and children over 5 years of age are prescribed 1 suppository (containing 2.63 g of glycerin) once a day. Children under 5 years of age - 1 suppository (containing 0.88 g of glycerin) once a day.

There are no restrictions.
Overdose.
Frequent loose stools. resolves on their own after discontinuation of the drug.
Adverse reactions.
Allergic reactions are possible; pain, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal bleeding.
With prolonged use, irritation and discomfort in the rectum have been observed; sometimes catarrhal proctitis.
