Composition

active ingredient: chlorhexidine gluconate;

1 pessary contains 85.2 mg of chlorhexidine gluconate (20%), calculated as 100% chlorhexidine 16 mg;

excipients: macrogol 1500, macrogol 400.

Dosage form

Pessaries.

Main physical and chemical properties: pessaries are white or white with a yellowish tint, the surface may be marbled. The presence of an air core or a funnel-shaped depression is allowed on the cut.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Chlorhexidine gluconate has a rapid and pronounced effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria: Treponema pallidum, Chlamidia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis. Some strains of Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp. are weakly sensitive to the drug. Acid-resistant forms of bacteria, bacterial spores, fungi, viruses are not sensitive to the drug.

Pharmacokinetics. When used intravaginally, it is practically not absorbed and has no systemic effect.

Indication

For the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (syphilis, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis) and infectious-inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology (before surgical treatment of gynecological diseases, before childbirth and abortion, before and after the installation of an intrauterine device, before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix, before intrauterine examinations).

For the treatment of bacterial vaginosis, colpitis, cervical erosion.

Contraindication

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

Chlorhexidine should not be used together with detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose), as well as with soap. The presence of soap can inactivate chlorhexidine, so before using the drug, soap residues must be thoroughly washed off. Toileting the external genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerability of suppositories, since the drug is used intravaginally. Simultaneous use with iodine is not recommended.

Application features

Contact with hypochlorite bleaching agents on fabrics that have previously been in contact with a product containing chlorhexidine may contribute to the appearance of brown stains on the fabric.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Not contraindicated.

Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

Does not affect.

Method of administration and doses

The drug is used intravaginally. Before use, the pessary is removed from the contour packaging.

Treatment: 1 pessary is used 1–2 times a day for 7–10 days, depending on the nature of the disease. If necessary, the course of treatment may be extended to 20 days.

Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases: use 1 pessary once no later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse.

Pregnancy. Taking into account the severity of the infectious process, bacteriological research data, and the threat of abortion, the drug is used 1 pessary 1 or 2 times a day as monotherapy or as part of complex therapy. Duration of use is from 5 to 10 days.

When breastfeeding, the drug is used in the usual recommended doses.

Children

The drug is not used in children.

Overdose

Overdose and toxic effects when using the drug have not been identified.

Side effects

Allergic reactions and itching at the site of pessary insertion are possible.

Burning and irritation may occur at the site of pessary insertion.

Expiration date

2 years. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ºС.

Keep out of reach of children.
