Hexitex pessaries are used as:

Composition

Active ingredient: chlorhexidine.

1 pessary contains 85.2 mg of chlorhexidine bigluconate (20% solution), equivalent to 16 mg of chlorhexidine bigluconate.

Excipient: polyethylene oxide.

Contraindication

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Method of application

The drug is to be used intravaginally. Before use, remove the pessary from the contour packaging.

Treatment: apply 1 pessary 2 times a day for 7-10 days, depending on the nature of the disease. If necessary, the course of treatment may be extended to 20 days.

Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases: use 1 pessary at a time no later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse.

Pregnancy. Taking into account the severity of the infectious process, bacteriological studies, and the presence of threatened abortion, the drug should be used 1 pessary 1 or 2 times a day as monotherapy or as part of complex therapy. Duration of use is from 5 to 10 days.

During breastfeeding, the drug should be used in the usual recommended doses.

Overdose

Overdose and toxic effects when using the drug have not been identified.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible, including itching, burning, and irritation at the site of pessary insertion.

Interaction

Chlorhexidine should not be used together with detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose), as well as with soap. The presence of soap can inactivate chlorhexidine, so before using the drug, soap residues must be thoroughly washed off. Toileting the external genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerability of Hexitex pessaries, since the drug is used intravaginally. Simultaneous use with iodine is not recommended.

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25˚C.
