General characteristics

main physicochemical properties: round, biconvex tablets, coated with a dark brown shell;

composition: bile extract - 25 mg, artichoke extract - 25 mg, turmeric powder - 50 mg;

excipients: starch, sucrose, magnesium carbonate; shell: talc, acacia, shellac, polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide, iron oxide (brown), carnauba wax, paraffin.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. The drug helps to increase the secretory function of hepatocytes, which is manifested by increased bile secretion (moderate choleretic effect) and stimulation of bile acid synthesis. Reflexively increases the motor-secretory function of the digestive tract, inhibiting fermentation processes in the intestine. With regular use of the drug, the liver's ability to utilize toxic substances increases.

The effect of Holiver is due to the properties of biologically active substances contained in bile extract (cholic and chenodeoxycholic acids, bile pigments, cholesterol) and extracts of medicinal plants - artichoke (Cynara scolymus) and turmeric (Curcuma longa).

Bile acids increase bile secretion, which helps increase the absorption of fats, cholesterol, and fat-soluble vitamins. Bile stimulates intestinal peristalsis and exhibits antiseptic properties.

Artichoke has choleretic and diuretic effects, reduces the content of urea in the blood, normalizes metabolism, increases the synthesis of coenzymes in hepatocytes, normalizes the metabolism of lipids and cholesterol. Artichoke also exhibits hepatoprotective properties and a protective effect on the liver and kidney parenchyma during antibiotic therapy, and promotes the elimination of toxins.

Turmeric has a high anti-ulcer effect, stimulates the formation of bile in the liver and its outflow, eliminates the feeling of heaviness and bloating of the intestines (flatulence) after eating and regulates the digestive process. Turmeric helps remove cholesterol from the blood, and also exhibits the properties of an antifungal antiseptic agent for intestinal dysbacteriosis.

Indications for use

Holiver is prescribed internally for disorders of the hepatobiliary system (cirrhosis of the liver, chronic hepatitis, jaundice, cholecystitis, cholangitis, hypokinetic type biliary dyskinesia), as well as for oliguria due to heart failure and cirrhosis of the liver, for gastric and duodenal ulcers, and for habitual constipation due to intestinal atony.

Contraindication

Holiver is contraindicated in obstructive diseases with biliary tract obstruction (obstructive jaundice), acute hepatitis, liver dystrophy and acute liver failure, as well as in case of individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Method of administration and doses

Adults and children over 4 years of age are prescribed 2-4 tablets 3 times a day before or during meals.

Children under 4 years of age are prescribed 1 - 2 tablets 3 times a day.

The duration of treatment is usually 10 - 20 days.

Side effect. The drug is usually well tolerated, however, in some patients with individual hypersensitivity, allergic reactions (redness, skin rash, itching) or diarrhea may develop.

Overdose

In case of an overdose of Holiver, severe allergic reactions and diarrhea may develop. Immediate withdrawal of the drug and symptomatic therapy lead to a rapid reduction of clinical symptoms of overdose.

Interaction with other drugs

There have been no reports of interactions between Holiver and other drugs to date.

24 months.
