Main physicochemical properties: white, with small, isolated brown inclusions, biconvex tablet.
Pharmacotherapeutic group
A complex homeopathic preparation.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
A drug with hypotensive action. Combinations of hypotensive drugs. Normalizes intracardiac hemodynamics, myocardial contractility, arterial tone, kidney function, gently lowers blood pressure and stabilizes it. The mechanism of hypotensive action is due to the effect on the vasomotor center in the medulla oblongata, a decrease in cardiac output and total peripheral vascular resistance, a decrease in the concentration of biogenic amines (catecholamine, dopamine) in the central nervous system, an antispasmodic effect. Increases diuresis and excretion of nitrogenous substances, has antiarrhythmic, antiatherosclerotic, membrane-stabilizing effects. Has a mild sedative effect (reduces feelings of anxiety, fear, depression, emotional tension) due to the effect on the central nervous system.
Pharmacokinetics
The pharmacokinetic properties of the active substances, except for reserpine, are not known. The active substance reserpine is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, 96% of it binds to plasma proteins. Reserpine penetrates the placental barrier and is excreted in breast milk. Reserpine is almost completely metabolized and excreted from the body with feces or urine, the half-life is from 4.5 to 271 hours.
Indication
Arterial hypertension of the 1st degree.
As an additional agent in combination therapy for stage II arterial hypertension.
Neurocirculatory dystonia.
Contraindication
The drug is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components. Due to the presence of reserpine in the composition of the drug, it is contraindicated for use in depressive states and a history of depressive states, gastrointestinal ulcers and pheochromocytoma.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
Cases of incompatibility of Homviotensin with other drugs are unknown. When reserpine is taken simultaneously with diuretics (thiazide diuretics), the effect of reserpine may be enhanced. Reserpine enhances the effect of other antihypertensive drugs, the effect of digitalis, antiarrhythmic drugs (quinidine), the suppressive effect of alcohol, analgesics, antihistamines and psychotropic drugs. It is necessary to stop using monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) at least 14 days before starting to take Homviotensin. Homviotensin tablets may enhance the effect of sympathomimetics (expectorants, eye, nasal drops). Reserpine weakens the effect of drugs used to treat Parkinson's disease (levodopa). Smoking, drinking alcohol and tonic drinks (tea, coffee) may weaken the effect of homeopathic remedies. When using other drugs, you must inform your doctor.
Application features
The first signs of improvement should be expected 1 week after the start of treatment. When replacing β-adrenergic blockers, calcium ion antagonists, ACE inhibitors (angiotensin-converting enzyme) or other antihypertensive drugs with Homviotensin, the latter are taken during the first week in half the dose simultaneously with Homviotensin, in the second week - ¼ of the initial dose, in the third - ¼ of the initial dose every other day, after which they can be canceled, provided that blood pressure is stable normalization, and only Homviotensin is left or combined with a minimum dose of an allopathic drug. Blood pressure should be monitored regularly. After taking the first dose of the drug, a short-term increase in the main symptoms is possible (homeopathic effect of the first dose). In this case, it is necessary to stop using the drug and consult a doctor. Homeopathic drugs in a sensitive patient's constitution can cause repeated (new) symptoms, if new symptoms occur, the drug should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted.
The drug contains lactose. Do not use in patients with hereditary galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
The active ingredient reserpine at the beginning of treatment may affect the speed of reactions, causing fatigue and impaired concentration, especially when interacting with alcohol, painkillers, antihistamines, hypnotics (barbiturates), and psychotropic drugs, so you should be especially careful when driving or working with complex mechanisms.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied, therefore, the drug should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Method of administration and doses
The initial dose of the drug for adults is determined according to the average daily blood pressure (BP). Dosage recommendations are given in the table.
Average daily blood pressure before treatment (mm Hg) | Number of tablets per dose
In the morning | During the day | In the evening
From 160/100 to 179/109 (as part of combination therapy) | 2 | 1 | 1 |
From 140/90 to 159/99 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Tablets are taken 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after meals, keeping in the mouth until completely dissolved. The course of treatment should be at least 4-6 weeks. After stable stabilization of blood pressure indicators, a maintenance dose is taken, which is determined individually by the doctor.
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. If the symptoms of the disease do not disappear during the use of the drug, you should consult a doctor.
Children
There are no data on the efficacy and safety of use in children.
Overdose
When taking a large amount of the drug (more than 12 tablets per day), abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea may occur. An overdose of the active ingredient reserpine can lead to sedation, depressed mood, severe hypotension, bradycardia.
Adverse reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions to the components of the drug, including itching, may develop. Regarding the active substance reserpine, especially at high doses, the following reactions have been reported: from the gastrointestinal tract - increased gastrointestinal motility, gastrointestinal ulcers, dry mouth; from the nervous system - sedative effect, depressed mood, drowsiness; from the cardiovascular system - bradycardia, orthostatic dysregulation; from the respiratory system - a feeling of nasal congestion; from the reproductive system - impaired libido and potency, gynecomastia (in men). If side effects occur, you should consult a doctor.
