Pharmacological properties
Ibuprofen (d, 1-2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-propionic acid) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and moderate antipyretic activity. The main mechanism of specific action of ibuprofen is to inhibit the biosynthesis of prostaglandins in tissues. Ibuprofen has an immunomodulatory effect, stimulating the formation of endogenous interferon, and increases the body's nonspecific resistance. It does not cause irritation of the gastric mucosa when taken orally.
Indication
Rheumatoid arthritis (especially the initial stages of the inflammatory process), deforming osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, neuralgia, arthralgia and myalgia of rheumatic and non-rheumatic origin.
Application
Inside after meals, 0.2 g 3-4 times a day. To achieve a quick effect, the dose can be increased - 0.4 g 3 times a day. The daily dose of the drug is 0.8-1.2 g. When a therapeutic effect is achieved, the dose is reduced to 0.6-0.8 g per day.
Contraindication
Gastric and duodenal ulcer, ulcerative colitis, hypersensitivity to the drug, optic nerve disease.
Side effects
The drug is usually well tolerated. In some cases, dyspeptic phenomena (heartburn, nausea, vomiting, flatulence) and skin-allergic reactions are noted. In case of severe side effects, the dose of the drug is reduced or its administration is discontinued.
Special instructions
Caution should be exercised when prescribing to patients with a history of gastric or duodenal ulcer, gastritis, enteritis, colitis, chronic hepatitis, and liver cirrhosis.
