Indicator strips ph test strips No. 50

General characteristics
Urine pH is important for diagnosing a person's condition.
Changes in pH can signal:
- pH increase > 7:
metabolic and respiratory alkalosis; chronic renal failure; renal tubular acidosis (type I and II); hyperkalemia; primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism; diet high in vegetables and fruits; prolonged vomiting; urinary tract infections caused by urea-degrading microorganisms; taking certain medications (adrenaline, nicotinamide, bicarbonates); neoplasms of the genitourinary system
- pH decrease < 5:
Metabolic and respiratory acidosis; hypokalemia; dehydration; starvation; diabetes mellitus; tuberculosis; fever; severe diarrhea; taking medications: ascorbic acid, corticotropin, methionine; Diet high in meat protein, cranberries.
In urolithiasis: uric acid stones are more likely to form at a pH of less than 5.5, oxalate stones at a pH of 5.5-6.0, phosphate stones at a pH of 7.0-7.8. Monitoring urine pH is especially important in infants and the elderly, as a decrease in pH below 5.0 leads to improper bone formation or changes in bone structure, the so-called "calcium leaching."
