Description

Composition

Made of polymer material with specified mechanical characteristics. The contraceptive anchor has the shape of a closed ring. In the plane of the ring there is an internal rod on which a copper wire with a silver core is wound. The anchor has a loop for attaching a monofilament transcervical thread. The maximum diameter is 19 mm 2.

The purity of copper in the wire is not less than 99.98%. The nominal active surface area of copper contains 255 mm2 .

The IUD is supplied in a paper-printed package complete with a polymer insertion tube and plunger. The insertion tube is equipped with a movable polymer stop to indicate the insertion depth and the plane of the contraceptive anchor.

Sterilization – radiation or gas – with ethylene oxide.

Indication

A woman's desire to protect herself from pregnancy.

Treatment and prevention of Asherman's syndrome. As a postcoital remedy, the IUD can be inserted within 3-4 days after unprotected intercourse.

Recommended timing for IUD insertion:

  • any day of the menstrual cycle (mainly from day 4-19);
  • immediately after an uncomplicated medical abortion performed by vacuum aspiration or curettage;
  • after the end of uterine involution (5-6 weeks after uncomplicated childbirth), including against the background of lactational amenorrhea;
  • immediately after removal of an IUD whose expiration date has expired, if the woman wishes to continue intrauterine contraception;
  • for the purpose of postcoital contraception on the 3rd-4th day after unprotected intercourse.

Contraindication

Intrauterine contraception is absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy (suspected or confirmed), malignant diseases of the female genital organs, inflammatory processes of the pelvic organs, bleeding from the genital organs of unknown etiology, uterine anomalies, myoma for more than 8 weeks, endometriosis. Wilson's disease. With caution (after assessing the risks / benefits) it is necessary to use the IUD at a high risk of developing sexually transmitted diseases (the presence of multiple sexual partners), anemia (hemoglobin less than 90 g / l), in nulliparous women, with blood diseases, in patients with a history of ectopic pregnancy.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

Not detected. If diagnostic and therapeutic radiation is required, medical personnel should be informed of the presence of an IUD. In some cases, removal of the contraceptive may be necessary.

Application features

Adaptation to the Navy

During the adaptation of the patient's body to the IUD (3-4 months), changes in the menstrual cycle are possible. Menstrual bleeding may be accompanied by a pulling pain in the lower abdomen or sacrum, which usually subsides quickly. In order to increase the acceptability of the IUD and shorten the adaptation period, it is recommended:

  • conducting a thorough examination of women to identify contraindications to the use of IUDs;
  • a differentiated approach to choosing an IUD model, based on the individual characteristics of the woman's body, plans for childbirth, and the time of IUD insertion;
  • use of the recommended technique for introducing an intrauterine device and the optimal timing for its installation;
  • prophylactic antibiotic administration;
  • prescribing prostaglandinogenesis inhibitors in the first days after IUD insertion and during the first three menstrual bleedings.

Examination of the patient before insertion of the IUD

The patient should be informed about the advantages, disadvantages, and possible complications of the intrauterine contraceptive method.

Examination of the patient before insertion of the IUD (the scope of examination of the patient before insertion of the IUD is regulated by national medical protocols and may vary in different countries):

  • clinical examination;
  • bacterioscopic analysis of vaginal smears;
  • Pap smear (smear for oncocytological examination).

IUD insertion procedure

The IUD insertion procedure is performed by an obstetrician-gynecologist in compliance with generally accepted rules of asepsis.

After a gynecological examination and exclusion of contraindications to the use of intrauterine contraception, speculum is inserted under aseptic conditions and the cervix is treated three times with ball forceps and slightly reduced, the direction of the axis of the cervical canal and the length of the uterine cavity are determined with a sterile probe. In some cases, instrumental dilation of the cervical canal with Heger dilators to No. 4-4.5 may be required.

Navy preparation procedure for entry.

  1. Open the package from the transcervical threads side.
  2. Set the movable stop at a distance corresponding to the length of the uterine cavity along the probe.
  3. Insert the plunger into the tube until it contacts the contraceptive. To control the IUD anchor cavity, rotate the stop on the entry tube until the flat surfaces of the stop align with the intended plane of the IUD anchor.

IUD insertion procedure (withdrawal method)

  1. Maintaining traction on the ball pins, as with probing the uterine cavity, without applying excessive effort, insert the IUD through the cervical canal to the restrictor.

Move the inlet tube and piston simultaneously.

The IUD anchor is released from the tube when the inlet tube is moved until it stops against the piston ring.

CAUTION: The plunger must remain stationary, supporting the contraceptive.

  1. Remove the piston.
  2. Cut the transcervical threads so that they protrude from the cervix by 1.5-2.5 cm.

WE RECOMMEND THAT THE TIME FROM THE MOMENT OF OPENING THE PACKAGE TO INSERTION OF THE IUD IS NO MORE THAN 7 MINUTES.

Indications for removal of IUD

  • The IUD can be removed on any day of the menstrual cycle at the woman's request.
  • Mandatory removal of the IUD after the expiration date.
  • If there is no certainty about the correct location of the IUD immediately after insertion, it is advisable to remove the contraceptive and insert a new contraceptive.
  • The contraceptive should be removed in the event of the development of inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs (endometritis, salpingoophoritis, etc.); persistent menstrual irregularities; development of anemia; partial expulsion of the IUD; severe pain syndrome associated with the presence of the IUD in the uterine cavity; during pregnancy against the background of the IUD (the issue of prolonging pregnancy after removal of the IUD is decided individually, the patient must be informed that the risk of spontaneous abortion in the presence of the IUD in the uterine cavity increases to 50%).

REMINDER TO WOMEN USING INTRAUTERINE CONTRACEPTIVE SYSTEMS

The effect of the intrauterine contraceptive method is ensured by the presence of a small device in the uterine cavity - an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD).

The adaptation period for the IUD lasts about three months. Immediately after the IUD is inserted, you may experience minor vaginal bleeding and mild pain in the lower abdomen, which should subside in 2-3 days.

For 8-10 days after the insertion of the IUD, it is necessary to refrain from sexual activity, increased physical exertion, sports, and visiting the bathhouse or sauna.

Even if you feel well, you should contact the doctor who inserted the IUD.

For 2-3 months after the IUD is inserted into the uterus, menstruation may be heavier and longer, and sometimes there may be slight vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods. During menstruation, it is advisable to use sanitary pads in order to notice the fall of the spiral along with the discharge in time. You should have repeat examinations with a gynecologist 1, 3, 6 months after the IUD is inserted, then 1-2 times a year throughout the entire period of use of the IUD.

When using an IUD, you should follow your usual hygiene regimen. However, as with any modern method of contraception, complications can occur:

  • delayed menstruation (very rarely pregnancy may occur);
  • pain in the lower abdomen, pain during sexual intercourse, increased body temperature, unusual discharge from the genital tract (signs of inflammatory diseases of the genital organs);
  • After 3 months, menstruation remains long and regular, weakness and a feeling of malaise have appeared (signs of impaired adaptation to the IUD).

Adverse reactions

  • Increased menstrual blood loss.
  • Pre- and intermenstrual bleeding.

Expiration date

No more than three years.
