Iodixol spray in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx:
catarrhal, follicular angina; streptococcal angina (with simultaneous treatment with antibiotics); acute and chronic tonsillitis; glossitis; aphthous stomatitis.Composition
Active ingredient: povidone-iodine;
30 g of the drug contains 2.55 g of povidone-iodine;
Excipients: allantoin, propylene glycol, levomenthol, ethanol (96%), citric acid monohydrate, sodium phosphate dodecahydrate, purified water.
Contraindication
Patients with hypersensitivity to iodine or other components of the drug, as well as with dermatitis herpetiformis of Duhring, hyperthyroidism, adenoma or dysfunction of the thyroid gland, patients with decompensated heart, kidney or liver failure, persons who are scheduled for diagnosis or therapy with radioactive iodine (within 2 weeks before and after the study).
Method of application
The spray is applied topically to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and pharynx.
Before use, remove the protective cap and put the sprayer on the mechanical pump rod. Before the first use of the drug, press the sprayer several times until a dispersed jet appears. Before further use, press 2-3 times so that the solution gets into the sprayer and sprays after pressing, after which the drug can be used.

Children
Children from 6 to 12 years of age should use Iodixol only as directed by a doctor. Children over 12 years of age should use the drug with caution, given the possibility of developing laryngospasm.
Overdose
When following the recommendations for the correct local application of the drug in the oral cavity or pharynx, no cases of overdose were observed. However, if a large amount of the solution is swallowed, acute poisoning may develop. According to information, at first a metallic taste in the mouth may be felt, vomiting begins, stomach pain and diarrhea occur. Within 1-3 days, anuria, swelling of the glottis with subsequent asphyxia, aspiration pneumonia or pulmonary edema may occur. In some cases, even significant circulatory disorders may occur.
Side effects
The most common local allergic reactions are itching, burning, flushing, urticaria, dry mouth, redness and skin rashes; in case of prolonged use of the drug, iodine-induced hyperthyroidism may develop, mainly in patients with existing thyroid disease, impaired renal function, acute failure, changes in serum electrolyte levels (hypernatremia) and osmolarity, metabolic acidosis.
Interaction
It is not recommended to use the drug together with other products for use in the mouth and throat (primarily with hydrogen peroxide).
Iodixol is incompatible with reducing agents, alkaloid salts and cationic antiseptics. The use of povidone-iodine should be avoided in patients treated with lithium preparations.
PVP-iodine should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine, due to possible partial inactivity.
Storage conditions
Keep the container in the outer carton in order to protect from light, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
Keep out of reach of children.
