Pressurized inhalation solution Ipratropium-Intel is indicated for the maintenance treatment of reversible bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic bronchial asthma.

Composition

Active ingredient: ipratropium bromide;

1 dose contains 21 mcg of ipratropium bromide monohydrate (equivalent to 20 mcg of ipratropium bromide anhydrous);

Excipients: citric acid, purified water, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFA-134a), absolute ethanol.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to atropine or its derivatives (e.g. tiotropium), ipratropium bromide, or to any component of the drug.

Method of application

For inhalation use.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and is determined individually. The dose should always be reduced to the minimum necessary to achieve effective control of symptoms.

Overdose

No specific symptoms of overdose have been reported. Given the wide therapeutic window and low absorption of ipratropium bromide, serious anticholinergic symptoms are not expected. As with other anticholinergic agents, the expected symptoms of overdose are dry mouth, impaired visual accommodation, and tachycardia.

Side effects

The most common adverse reactions with ipratropium bromide were: headache, cough, pharyngitis, paradoxical bronchospasm, dry mouth, and gastrointestinal motility disorders, all with a frequency of 1 to 10%.

Interaction

There is evidence that the use of ipratropium bromide together with beta-adrenergic blocking drugs and xanthine derivatives may cause an additive bronchodilator effect.

Ipratropium-Intel can be used concomitantly with other drugs for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including sympathomimetic bronchodilators, methylxanthines, steroids and sodium cromoglycate.

Storage conditions

Keep out of reach of children.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30ºC.

Protect from direct sunlight and do not freeze.

Do not puncture or burn the cylinder, even if it appears empty.
