Pharmacological properties
The leaves of Orthosiphon stamen contain triterpene saponins, bitter glycoside orthosiphonin, essential oil, fatty oil, tannins, organic acids, traces of alkaloids. This complex of biologically active substances has a diuretic, antispasmodic, choleretic effect. Preparations from the leaves of Orthosiphon stamen increase the secretion of gastric juice, increase the content of free hydrochloric acid in it, remove urea, uric acid, chlorides from the body.
Indication
Acute and chronic kidney diseases; edema caused by impaired kidney function, heart failure; cholecystitis.
Application
3 g (1 dessert spoon) of leaves are placed in an enameled dish, poured with 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, covered with a lid and infused in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered, the residue is squeezed to a filtered infusion. the volume of the infusion is brought to 200 ml with boiled water. adults take 1/2 cup warm 2 times a day 20-30 minutes before meals. children over 3 years old, depending on age - from 1 dessert spoon to 1/3 cup 2 times a day 20-30 minutes before meals. with cholecystitis, take after meals. It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.
2 filter bags are placed in a glass or enameled dish, poured with 200 ml (1 cup) of boiling water, closed and left for 15 minutes. Adults take 1/2 cup warm 2 times a day 20-30 minutes before meals. Children over 3 years old, depending on age - from 1 dessert spoon to 1/3 cup 2 times a day 20-30 minutes before meals. For cholecystitis, take after meals.
The duration of the treatment course is determined by the doctor individually, taking into account the nature, severity and characteristics of the course of the disease, the stability of the achieved therapeutic effect and the tolerability of the drug.
Contraindication
Individual sensitivity to biologically active substances contained in the medicinal product.
Side effects
In case of individual hypersensitivity to the drug, allergic reactions may develop (hyperemia, rashes, itching and swelling of the skin). If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the drug is used only if the expected benefit from use outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.

Storage conditions
Store in a dry place, protected from light. Prepared infusion - in a cool (8-15 °C) place, no more than 2 days.
