Description
Lactofem® Moisturising Cream is a white or off-white, greasy cream that is specifically designed for use in the treatment of vaginal dryness. Lactofem® Moisturising Cream does not contain hormones (e.g. estrogens) and can therefore be used in conjunction with hormone replacement therapy or in alternation with vaginal creams or suppositories that contain hormones.
Thanks to its properties, Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream helps relieve the symptoms of vaginal dryness:
The high water content in the cream ensures hydration of the skin in the vaginal area and external genitalia.
Nutritious lipids (fats) keep the skin elastic.
Thanks to the addition of lactic acid, the cream has a pH value of 4.4, which allows Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream to maintain the natural acidity level in the vagina.
Regular use of Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream can help prevent irritation and inflammation in the vagina and external genital area.
What you need to know about the symptoms of "vaginal dryness"
Symptoms of vaginal dryness can negatively impact a woman's quality of life. The feeling of dryness is often accompanied by other symptoms, such as itching, burning, and pain in the vagina, vaginal opening, and external genital area. In many cases, these symptoms also make sexual intercourse uncomfortable or even painful.
Women are particularly affected during menopause (which can start as early as age 40) and in the years following. The symptoms are caused by a decrease in the production of sex hormones (including estrogen). The vagina produces less vaginal fluid, and the skin becomes thinner and more sensitive. These are normal processes that can, however, lead to unpleasant symptoms.
Hormone deficiencies, fluctuations, or shifts in hormones can also lead to symptoms of vaginal dryness after surgery on the uterus or ovaries, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and when taking birth control pills.
In addition, some metabolic diseases (such as diabetes), some medications, radiation treatment for tumor diseases, and stress can contribute to dryness in the internal and external genitalia.
Composition
Lactofem® Moisturising Cream contains benzyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, lactic acid, sodium lactate, octyldodecanol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate and purified water. The 25 mg and 50 mg packs contain an applicator (CE-certified) for vaginal administration.
The vaginal cream does not contain fragrances or dyes.
Indications for use
Lactofem® Moisturizer is used to relieve and prevent symptoms caused by vaginal and external genital dryness (feelings of dryness, burning, itching or pain during intercourse) – without any hormones. Lactofem® Moisturizer can also be used to facilitate intercourse.
Reservation
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream should not be used in the following cases:
if you are known to have hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients.
if you have an existing vaginal infection (e.g. vaginal candidiasis). Consult your doctor.
immediately after childbirth.
You should seek medical attention in the following cases:
more pronounced symptoms of dryness before using Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream.
the presence of persistent or recurring problems in the vaginal area while using Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream.
increased negative symptoms when using Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream. You should stop using the product until the reasons are clarified.
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream does not contain hormones (estrogens) and can therefore be used together with hormone replacement therapy or in alternation with vaginal creams or vaginal suppositories that contain hormones.
There is no information on whether and to what extent vaginal cream can affect the effectiveness of vaginal contraceptives.
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream and condoms should not be used at the initial stage, as this may impair the condom's resistance to tearing, which will negatively affect its protective function.
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream does not contain any active substances that inactivate sperm and therefore does not protect against unwanted pregnancy.
In rare cases, severe skin irritation or hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. redness, itching, burning) may occur, which may last a little longer. If such symptoms persist or do not improve, you should stop using Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream and consult a doctor.
If you notice other unpleasant effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Please inform the manufacturer and the competent authorities in your country of all serious incidents that have occurred in connection with the use of Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream.
If the tube, applicator or the properties of the cream are damaged, stop using it and inform the manufacturer.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream can also be used during pregnancy and lactation.
During pregnancy, for safety reasons, the applicator for inserting the cream into the vagina is not used.
Method of application
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream is intended for use in the vagina and on the skin in the external genital area. Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream can be used with or without an applicator. Please wash your hands before applying the cream and pay attention to the hygiene of the intimate area.
The cream can also be used during menstruation.
Before first use
Before using the tube for the first time, unscrew the cap, turn it the other way and press on the tube opening to open the membrane seal.
Application without applicator
In case of discomfort at the entrance to the vagina and the area of the external genitalia, the cream is applied and distributed with a clean finger as needed, even several times a day. A strip of cream about 0.5 cm long is enough for this.
Application with applicator
Lactofem® Moisturising Cream can be inserted into the vagina using the applicator. To facilitate insertion, a small amount of cream can be applied to the area around the entrance to the vagina. Please note the following instructions for use:
1. Hold the tube with the opening facing up, screw the applicator onto the opening of the tube.
2. Fill the applicator tube with cream halfway (approximately 2.5 g [g] of cream) by pressing lightly and evenly on the tube (see picture).
3. Unscrew the applicator from the tube.
4. Carefully insert the applicator as far as possible into the vagina. This is best done while lying on your back with your legs slightly bent or while standing (as when inserting a tampon). By pressing the plunger, the applicator empties and the cream enters the vagina (see picture).
5. After use, clean the applicator as follows:
Press the ball end of the applicator plunger firmly against a hard surface. This will separate the plunger from the applicator tube. Then carefully clean the plunger and applicator tube separately with warm water until no cream residue is visible. Allow the applicator parts to air dry on a clean, dry surface. Once completely dry, reassemble the applicator by inserting the plunger into the tube.
During pregnancy, for safety reasons, the cream is inserted into the vagina without an applicator. Instead, apply a 2 cm strip of cream to a clean finger and insert it into the vagina.
It should be used once a day, preferably at night before going to bed (use a sanitary pad if necessary). Once symptoms improve, the frequency of use can be reduced as needed.
Term of use
Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream can also be used for a long period if it is well tolerated.

Expiration date
Do not use Lactofem® Moisturizing Cream after the expiry date stated on the tube and the pack. The expiry date is indicated after this symbol and expires on the last day of that calendar month.
After opening the tube, the cream is suitable for use for 6 months.
Storage conditions
Keep out of reach of children.
Store at a temperature not lower than 20C.
In general, creams should be stored at room temperature and protected from direct sunlight.
