Lactofem Lactofem vaginal gel with lactic acid in tubes of 5 ml No. 7

A healthy vagina is naturally acidic and has a low pH level of around 3.8-4.5. This natural acidity is maintained by bacteria called lactobacilli, which produce lactic acid. These bacteria thrive in an acidic environment and are a very important part of the natural defenses, acting as a barrier to infection.
There are a number of conditions that can disrupt the natural acidity of the vagina, including: fluctuating hormone levels during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause. Other contributing factors include antibiotics, sexual intercourse (semen has an alkaline pH), intrauterine devices (IUDs), douching, and smoking. Disturbances in the vaginal environment can lead to conditions such as bacterial vaginosis (BV), candidiasis (thrush), and vaginal trichomoniasis. The most common cause of recurrent vaginal infections is BV. Bacterial vaginosis is associated with abnormal vaginal discharge. Normal vaginal discharge may vary in consistency and have an unpleasant, slightly sweet odor. The discharge of BV is thin, white, or gray in appearance, with a distinct foul odor. BV is often confused with other vaginal infections. Simple tests performed by health care professionals can diagnose the presence of BV.
