Composition
1 sachet contains: main ingredient: lactitol monohydrate – 10 g (g); excipient: silicon dioxide.
Properties
Lactitol is a disaccharide derivative consisting of galactose and sorbitol. Lactitol enters the large intestine unchanged, where it is converted, mainly by microflora (mainly Bacteroides and Lactobacilli), into organic acids that lower the pH of the medium. As a result, the osmotic pressure in the large intestine increases, which leads to an increase in the volume of intestinal masses, stimulation of colonic peristalsis, which is what causes the laxative effect. Usually, the laxative effect of lactitol occurs within 24 hours after ingestion.
In addition, lactitol stimulates the growth of acidophilic bacteria, while the growth of potentially pathogenic clostridia and E. coli may be inhibited. This helps restore the balance of intestinal microflora.
In people with hepatic encephalopathy, precoma or hepatic coma, lactitol promotes the transfer of ammonia from the blood to the large intestine (due to a decrease in pH, an increase in osmotic pressure in the intestinal lumen), stimulates the utilization of ammonia by bacteria, and the removal of retained ammonium ions and other nitrogen-containing toxic substances from the large intestine.
Recommendations for use
"LACLIN" is recommended as a dietary supplement to the diet as an additional source of lactitol for the purpose of:
- elimination of constipation;
- preparation for medical procedures and operations,
- physiological softening of feces and facilitating defecation in case of hemorrhoids and after operations on the large intestine and anorectal area;
- helping to reduce ammonia levels.
Method of administration and doses
Take with meals. Dissolve the contents of the sachet in warm water, juice, or mix with liquid food.
For constipation and conditions that require easier defecation.
Take the entire daily dose at once, in one dose, at the same time of day:
- children 1-6 years old – 2.5-5 g (g) (0.5-1 teaspoon of powder) per day;
- children 7-12 years old – 5-10 g (g) (1-2 teaspoons of powder) per day;
- children 13-16 years old – 10-20 g (g) (2-4 teaspoons of powder) per day;
- adults – 20 g (g) (4 teaspoons of powder) per day.
Taking the dietary supplement LAKLIN® should cause bowel movements once a day; after a stable laxative effect occurs within several days of taking the dosage can be reduced.
In some cases, half the recommended daily dose is sufficient to obtain a laxative effect.
At the beginning of use, you may experience abdominal discomfort and flatulence. These symptoms usually disappear with continued use, as you get used to lactitol. To prevent such discomfort, it is recommended to start with the smallest doses and gradually increase the dose until the desired effect is achieved. If flatulence occurs, the dose should be reduced or the use should be discontinued.
To regulate bowel movements for the purpose of undergoing medical procedures.
Dilute the contents of 2 sachets (total 20 g (g) of lactitol) in 1 liter of water and take the entire volume of the prepared solution in 3 doses (at 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00) on the eve of the procedure.
To reduce ammonia levels in adults.
Dosage should be individualized, depending on laboratory parameters and individual response to lactitol. The initial daily dose is usually 0.5-0.7 g (g) of lactitol per 1 kg of body weight. This dosage is divided into 3 doses during meals in order to achieve 2 "soft" bowel movements per day.

- Based on a doctor's recommendation, it is permissible to take the dietary supplement LAKLIN® during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Lactitol has low calories and does not affect blood glucose levels. Therefore, the dietary supplement LAKLIN® can be used for diabetes.
- A dietary supplement should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet.
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose! A sign of overdose is diarrhea, in some cases vomiting. These phenomena are eliminated by reducing the single dosage when preparing the solution or by stopping the intake.
- When taking this dietary supplement simultaneously with enteric-coated drugs of pH-dependent release, it should be taken into account that lactitol reduces the pH of intestinal contents.
- It is not recommended to use this dietary supplement within 2 hours of taking other medications.
- Taking the dietary supplement LAKLIN® requires increasing fluid intake to 2 liters per day.
- In rare cases, a delayed laxative effect is possible, when the effect appears on the 2nd-3rd day of administration.
Contraindication
Individual intolerance to lactitol, galactosemia, intestinal obstruction, suspected organic damage to the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding of unknown origin.
