Lefloc film-coated tablets 500 mg No. 5

Levofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial agent of the fluoroquinolone group, it is the S-enantiomer of the racemic mixture of the drug ofloxacin.
As an antibacterial drug from the fluoroquinolone group, levofloxacin acts on the DNA-DNA gyrase complex and topoisomerase IV.
Indications for use
Infectious and inflammatory diseases of mild to moderate severity caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug: acute sinusitis, exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, complicated and uncomplicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), skin and soft tissue infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, other quinolones or to any of the excipients. Epilepsy. Complaints of tendon adverse reactions after previous use of quinolones.
Method of administration and doses
The drug should be taken 1 or 2 times a day, regardless of meals (can be taken with or without food). Swallow without chewing, with sufficient liquid.
The total dose depends on the type and severity of the infection. The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease. It is recommended to continue treatment with levofloxacin for 48-72 hours after normalization of body temperature or confirmation of the absence of pathogens by microbiological tests.
Overdose
Based on the results of animal toxicity studies or clinical pharmacology studies performed at supratherapeutic doses, the most important signs to be expected after acute overdose of levofloxacin are central nervous system (CNS) symptoms such as confusion, dizziness, impaired consciousness and convulsions, as well as QT prolongation and gastrointestinal reactions such as mucosal erosions.
As part of the experience of using the drug in the post-marketing period, CNS effects such as confusion, seizures, hallucinations and tremor have been observed in such cases.
In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be applied. Considering the possible prolongation of the QT interval, ECG monitoring should be carried out. Antacids can be used to protect the gastric mucosa. Hemodialysis, including peritoneal dialysis and chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, are not effective in removing levofloxacin from the body. There is no specific antidote to the drug.
Special instructions
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Due to the possibility of damage to articular cartilage in the growing body by quinolones, the drug is contraindicated for use in pregnant and lactating women. If pregnancy is diagnosed during treatment, the doctor should be informed. Levofloxacin does not cause impaired fertility or reproductive function in rats.
Children
Lefloc is contraindicated for the treatment of children due to the possibility of damage to articular cartilage.
Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
Such undesirable side effects from the nervous system as dizziness, drowsiness, visual and hearing impairment impair the ability to concentrate and react quickly, so the drug should be used with caution in patients who drive vehicles or work with complex mechanisms that require increased attention.
