Levamisole-Health tablets are used for the following indications: ascariasis, necatoriasis, hookworm infection.
Composition
One tablet contains (active ingredient) levamisole hydrochloride 150 mg.
Excipients: corn starch, lactose, povidone, stearic acid.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to levamisole or to excipients.
Method of application
For the treatment of helminthiasis in adults, use a single dose of 150 mg (one tablet).
It is advisable to take the drug after meals with a small amount of water, in the evening.
There is no need to take laxatives or follow a special diet.
If necessary, repeat the treatment after a 7-14-day break.
Application features
Pregnant women
During pregnancy, the drug can be prescribed only if the expected benefit outweighs the possible risk of using the drug. During breastfeeding, in order to protect the infant, it is necessary to decide whether there is a need for the mother to take the drug.
Children
The drug in this dosage should not be used in children.
Drivers
Levamisole has not been proven to depress the nervous system. Mild and short-term dizziness is possible when taking the drug, so caution should be exercised when driving, working in hazardous areas, and using other mechanisms.
Overdose
When taking a large dose of levamisole (more than 600 mg), the following signs of intoxication have been described: nausea, vomiting, lethargy, cramps, diarrhea, headache, dizziness and confusion.
Treatment: in case of accidental overdose - if a short time has passed after ingestion - gastric lavage. Vital signs monitoring and symptomatic therapy are necessary.
If there are signs of anticholinesterase action, atropine can be administered as an antidote.
Side effects
Cardiovascular system: palpitations.
From the blood and lymphatic system: agranulocytosis, leukopenia.
Mental disorders: insomnia.
From the side of the central nervous system: convulsions, dizziness, encephalopathy, headache.
Gastrointestinal: abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
Immune system disorders: Hypersensitivity reactions including rash, pruritus and angioedema.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, out of the reach of children.
