Description

Pharmacological properties

A complex preparation for external use; has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, wound-healing effects. Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli).

Indication

Treatment of purulent wounds infected with mixed microflora, including staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, to cleanse wounds of purulent-necrotic masses and reduce edema.

Application

Locally. Sterile gauze bandages are impregnated with the drug, which are loosely tamponed into the wound. It is possible to introduce the drug into purulent cavities through a catheter using a syringe; in this case, the ointment is preheated to a temperature of 35-36 °C. Bandages are applied until the wound is completely cleansed of purulent-necrotic masses.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Side effects

The development of allergic reactions is possible with individual hypersensitivity to chloramphenicol.
