Weakly active against acid-fast bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, protozoa and clostridia. Resistance of microorganisms to chloramphenicol develops relatively slowly.
In normal doses, it acts bacteriostatically. The mechanism of antimicrobial action of chloramphenicol is associated with a violation of protein synthesis in microorganisms.
